My husband and I don't really even have words to express how much we loved working with Ryan and Courtney. Hiring them was hands down the best and easiest decision we made in planning, AND the best part is that we made friends with some completely amazing, loving, adventure-seeking, genuine, passionate, joyful, incredibly talented people!!! Ryan, the main photographer, has so much creativity inside of him, it's immediately evident (basically palpable) upon meeting him, and he's just so good at what he does. We are so thankful he shares this talent with others. He was born to create and love others. He goes above and beyond capturing the emotion and depth of what's happening around you in every photo. He is so easy to be around and makes shooting with him fun, comfortable, and natural! He drove 4.5 hours to do mine and my husband's engagement shoot because 1) it was close and convenient for us, 2) it was somewhere new he hadn't been before and when he researched online and suggested it he said he thought it looked really cool, 3) he is just awesome, and 4) he said "I could use some windshield time & I really don't mind the drive". Who goes out of your way like that for you?!? Courtney, his sweet wife, was his second shooter for our wedding day, and I am SO glad she was!!! She is also just as skilled with a camera and has a wonderful eye for detail!! She is down to earth, kind-hearted, and relatable. She went out of the way to find some wild flowers and other accent pieces for the "details" photos the morning of our wedding while I was getting ready, and I was SO touched by that. Myself, my husband, my family, and all my friends think they photos are even more beautiful with touches like that. My husband and I, and all of our guests, cannot stop raving about how amazing Ryan and Courtney are, and how beautiful our photos turned out (it's so obvious Ryan poured his heart and soul into editing them and making these memories so special for us)-- my husband and I feel the same, but we mostly feel so blessed to have gotten to meet and walk through this huge chapter of our life with these people. We are looking forward to more adventures with Ryan and Courtney!!! We seriously could not have imagined anyone else to be there celebrating with us and capturing these moments. Knowing your vendors are more like friends just makes your day 10000% more special. You can absolutely not go wrong investing in Candle & Quill. You will gain SO much more than you give, without a doubt!! Thank you guys. We love you!!!!!

Where do I start? Admittedly, my time with Ryan and Candle and Quill was not spent over a great deal of time. We met and two weeks later, he shot my husband, three pups, and me at home. My husband and I had eloped a year earlier so this was a chance to give us some lifelong photos to hang throughout our house and share with our loved ones, and we couldn't have been more thrilled with every step of the process!

I was immediately drawn to their work, which shows so much life to it. There's not a single photo that doesn't show joy or another emotion in some way. You see the story in their photos and that was what I wanted for us. Speaking with Ryan completely sealed the deal. In today's day and age where everything is so on-demand, and that personal connection can often be missed, we spoke for nearly an hour about all things wedding, and it was no question that C+Q would be an incredible fit for us!

From a business perspective, it's not hard to see the passion behind what they do, which creates such a legacy with their couples and work. My husband and I are currently deciding which photos to print and hang around the house and having the hardest time deciding which several we love the most - not a terrible problem to have by any means!!

We couldn't recommend them more and already look forward to adventures in the future that they can be a part of!!

Above a lot of the details with the wedding, I wanted to make sure I picked the perfect photographer that had a specific style I was looking for- Candle & Quill was just that and more!! I am so grateful we had them there for our wedding! My husband and I had a lot of fun talking and getting to know Ryan and Courtney throughout the process as well. They work so well together and do a phenomenal job! I forgot to pick some places to get photos done at the venue but thankfully, they were able to scout the venue and find the perfect spots! They are the best and you will not regret hiring them!!

My husband & I had our engagement photo session with Candle & Quill. We're both pretty shy/awkward around a camera. Ryan did a fantastic job of making us feel relaxed and actually enjoy ourselves. By the middle of our session, it felt like we were just hanging out with a friend we've known for years. The photos are AMAZING! They truly capture me & my husband…our love, our silliness.

I also had my bridal portraits done by C&Q. They are SO beautiful! If any bride is on the fence about bridal portraits—DO THEM! The bridal shoot gave us dedicated time to get photos of just me in my wedding dress without the time restraints of all the wedding festivities. Ryan was great at coming up with creative suggestions for "poses" or shots, and he was always willing to try any ideas I had. The photos look absolutely magical.

I was one of the brides who’s original wedding date fell in the middle of the pandemic. My husband & I debated what to do (keep original date?, cancel?, elope?) Ryan always checked to see where we were with the planning/replanning & let us know he was willing to do whatever we wanted. I appreciated that he made us feel like a top priority through all the craziness. It was also so nice to work with a vendor that was willing to be flexible.
Needless to say, I was definitely comfortable having Ryan as my photographer on the wedding day. We had a tiny ceremony in a friend’s backyard. Ryan & his wife Courtney did a fantastic job. They captured so many intimate/personal moments of the day without me even noticing that they were there. I know I’ll cherish these photos forever. I already plan on using C&Q for family portraits & other special events.

We can't rave enough about how dreamy our elopement day was, and its truly all thanks to Ryan and his team! Our photos are spectacular and will be cherished for a lifetime

Booking Candle & Quill for our elopement was the best decision we made! Ryan has been wonderful since the day I first emailed about the idea of eloping in lieu of our wedding which we cancelled due to COVID. He was compassionate, responsive, and helped craft the perfect elopement day by helping us pick an elopement spot, nailing down a timeline, and putting the details together. Ryan never took more than a few hours to respond - most of the time he'd respond within the hour! Ryan & Courtney were so fun to be around on wedding day! They were professional and punctual, and were also great fun during our couples session. Courtney even carried my bag! If your fiance (husband!) is anything like mine, he was not too excited about the prospect of taking posed pictures. Ryan & Courtney made us feel happy, funny, quirky, and in love - and it shows in our pictures! We look so happy!! I LOVE photographers who document true happines rather than moody artistic ones. Thank you Ryan & Courtney for such a wonderful experience on an unforgettable day, and for documenting in stunning pictures we will (well, I will) be looking at for years to come!

I can't say enough good things about Ryan and Courtney! With having to reschedule our wedding TWICE (thanks COVID!), they were super flexible and able to work with us and the challenges we faced during this weird time. Having them as our photographers felt like hanging out with friends and they put two fairly awkward people at ease during photos. We will definitely be using them again in the future and highly recommend them to anybody who needs a wedding photographer!
