I met him because he did the photos for my friend's wedding and they were so beautiful I knew it would work out great. When we first met him for the engagement shots, he was very friendly and helped us feel comfortable when we had no idea what to do with our faces. He quickly figured out that my husband and I are very goofy and he found a way to capture not only the beautiful love-y shots but the quirky laughing with each other moments as well. He was also very open with random ideas, like when we thought it would be cute to take a picture with a paper moustache. And super flexible! We did the engagement shots in Austin (where he's from), the bridals in San Antonio (where we're from), and the wedding in Comfort (even further away!).
He had the proofs for each shoot ready in about 2 weeks to view online, and then the cd came right after in the mail. And everyone who has seen our photos raves about how beautiful they turned out.
Overall, the best possible experience I could've had. Thanks Brian!

Brian Hurdle shot my wedding and reception about 8 months ago, in December 2008. The wedding was "sunset" - late afternoon to evening - and outdoors - in Austin, Texas; the reception was indoors. The outdoor photos are my favorite and look absolutely fabulous. This includes the fun picture of the hotel's outdoor sign showing that is was sunny and in the 70s. :) What a day! The photos Brian took look like something you would see in a magazine. There are many, many frame-worthy pictures of the ceremony. Also, there are very sweet pictures of me and hubby at the end - walking away from the reception together toward the hotel. Awwh. I also particularly liked the "before" shots A LOT - for instance, me getting my hair done and the groomsmen photos were dynamite. Overall, I was so, so pleased to see how well the pictures turned out!! One thing that is certainly true (speaking from the perspective of a not-great and expensive engagement shoot with a different photographer), Brian is not a 'one trick pony' with framing shots. (If you had the bad engagement photos that I have, you'd know what I'm talking about). I actually have several wedding "portrait" shots that are beautiful and look very different and unique from each other (i.e. taken in different parts of the property). This is important because you don't want a different version of the same photo displayed throughout your home - or photo album. Basically, Brian's photos are definitely in a top league. Also - this is very noteworthy as well - Brian showed up wearing all black and his manner with the guests earned him many compliments about his professionalism and courtesy. In case that point is lost, it bears a repeat- yes, guests (plural) actually complimented me on my photographer. I should put a period after every word just. to. emphasize. I am not kidding. Basically, the day was beautiful, the photos were smashing, and the bride and groom are living happily ever after. :) Thanks, Brian!

P.S. take Brian's advice and think hard about doing the bridesmaid photo shoot before the wedding.
