My wife and I hired A Touch of Jazz for our wedding reception and they were fantastic from start to finish. First of all, the preliminary planning meetings and email exchanges that we had with the band leader (Sedric) were great. He was very helpful and responsive to our specific musical tastes and to certain song requests that we had for our reception. He was also extremely prompt in returning phone calls and emails. The band itself gave an excellent performance during our reception, playing a wonderful mix of classy, swanky jazz standards and some holiday music. (Since our wedding was just after Christmas, we had requested some festive holiday music to be added to the mix, and the band did this superbly.) The music was played at a perfect volume so that some of our guests could easily carry out a conversation at their tables while some of the other guests were dancing. The vocalist (Hillary) also played the role of emcee for announcing various events (entrance of parents, entrance of bride and groom, toasts, etc.). The band was also easily able to handle a somewhat unusual song request (i.e., non-jazz song) for the groom/mother-of-groom dance. In addition, they were kind enough to indulge us in allowing one of our friends (also a jazz singer) to sing one song with them during the reception. And as an added bonus, the band's piano player was able to provide live background piano music during the cocktail hour. Amazingly, for all of this great service, the price they charged was extremely reasonable. So in summary, if you are looking for a jazz band to provide classy music for your wedding (and especially if you are trying to get away from headache-inducing DJs), look no further than A Touch of Jazz. They were wonderful and all of our guests have given us glowing feedback about the music they provided for our reception.
