AMEN to that!!
I have to work today, but FH & Daughter were off.
They were able to come downtown Jacksonville, where I work, and I took lunch and watched the parade with them!

If there are any military families on here, I heard Applebee's, Golden Corral, Krispy Kreme... and some other food place was feeding military for free today!

Enjoy, you derserve it!

a lot of times people view Veterans day as a day off and go about their business taking for granted what the day really means. I think we should all stop and take a minute to thank the brave soldiers from past and present who have given the ultimate sacrfice to protect all of our freedoms we enjoy.

It is so easy with our hectic lifestyles to forget about those who have sacrificed for us. But we really it is so important for us to do. Because out those sacrifices we wouldn't be where we are today or have the freedom we do. God Bless all you who have fought or are fighting for the freedom of this country. You are in my prayers.

Agreed, Marcy.. that's why commented on this board.
Thank you Whitni for starting it :0)

My daughter's school put together a really nice show with the kids in it last night.... We're a military town so we had quite a few vets and active military there. It was VERY touching!

I think our service members past and present are too easily forgotten in our day-to-day lives. Today we should all remember those in our lives who have served....take a moment and give them a call to say thank you. My husband is currently enlisted in the Navy and I make a point to tell him how proud I am of him whenever possible. I knew when I said "I do" that I was marrying a military man, but it's hard sometimes. You watch your friends that have become your family on post get sent to dangerous areas of the world away from their kids, pregnant wives, etc. Just one day isn't enough notice for all the sacrifices they make.

Lovely- Hubby and I are hitting up Applebees tonight for the free food. Also Lowe's and Home Depot are giving 10% off.

I appreciate this post:) I Thank them EVEYDAY. My son was in Iraq for 14 months and was hit by shrapnel in his back, he was forty ft away from a mortar bomb that went off. He is ok, has some pain now and then he said but good to go. Thank You to all those that served/serve. It is greatly appreciated. Hugs

I would like to express my gratitude to all military past a present for the freedom that they fight for all of us to have and the ridical they take from others that dont understand. My 12 yr old has told me he wants to go into the military and I told him I am very proud of him because for him to make that choice is an honored one.

I make a point of telling all of the people I know in the military thank you today. They make such big sacrifices and so do their families. No one really knows what the family goes through unless you've done it or been extremely close to someone in the military. Any how.... THANK YOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE MILITARY AND THEIR FAMILIES!

Yes, thank you to all the men and women that serve our country. And I too agree that sometimes it seems that we forget about them. Thank you again for everything that you do!

Amen to all of what is posted. My dad (88 years old) is a Marine who fought in the South Pacific, during WWII. He was wounded, but had no lasting aftereffect.

Thanks to veterans and current military personnel, we are speaking English as our mother tongue, and not German, Japanese, Russian and a host of other languages.

Thank you all!!

I agree completly with all that was said on here today. I was reading the posts and I started to cry thinking about my dad(army),grandpa(marines)who both fought in the vietnam war and one of my brothers who is in the navy. I give everyone who served or is serving in the military now the up most respect I cant join cause of the health problems that i have or I probably would have joined. Once again to all the military thank you for what you have done or are doing right now I love you all and GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!!!
