The Kentlands Mansion is a mansion wedding venue in the Washington, DC, area. This historic venue also serves as an art gallery with a rotating exhibition, giving couples a touch of color and creativity on their special day. It is located near Gaithersburg, Maryland, approximately 40 minutes from the Washington National Cathedral.

As many as 150 guests can join couples on their big day at this mansion venue. The building itself has two floors and eight rooms that couples may use for their big day. It sits on a well-manicured lawn that features a side garden, allowing wedding events to spill outdoors depending on the weather and the season. The rooms are decorated like a sophisticated home, with antique-style furniture, golden chandeliers, crown molding, and - of course - works of art hung along all the walls that are supplemented in places by statues and curio cabinets. In one of the main banquet rooms, the walls are made of ornate and darkly colored wood.

History

The history of the estate can be traced back to 1723 as a land grant. The owner's son constructed the brick mansion after his father's death in 1892. Other buildings were also built on the property, many of which are still in use today, like the Kentlands Mansion. The lands were purchased by Otis Beall Kent and given a name that still sticks to this day: Kentlands. The property underwent a massive reconstruction and restoration project in the hands of the new owner. It was expanded at one point to 1,100 acres as a gentleman's estate and wildlife sanctuary.
