Let me begin by saying that I am not originally from Delaware--on the other hand, my now husband was born, raised, and has never left Wilmington to live anywhere else. With that being said, when we were first engaged he talked about weddings in Wilmington and a reception at the Hotel Dupont Gold Ballroom as the "golden ticket" of venues. As you can imagine--the Hotel had to fulfill wild expectations and....they absolutely lived up to and beyond their reputation as one of the most beautifully fabulous places to host the biggest day in our life! I have received compliment after compliment from our wedding guests---not only from those who attended the reception but also my out-of-town guests who stayed at the hotel. My husband and I had the most professional and individualized treatment during the planning phase and I can't say enough how happy I was with Kim Mackin who made sure that every detail went off without a blip. She was pleasant and kind and completely accommodating/available. Jillian Cournoyer was our initial contact---she was the very first impression I was able to make of the hotel and we never looked back!! Our suite on our wedding night was over the top and the dressing areas for my bridal party prior to were an added bonus. Thank you again Hotel Dupont for making our day FABULOUS!!

AMAZING AMAZING!!! I can't begin to describe the elegance of the whole day. From the getting ready room, to the lobby, the ballroom of course, and the suite! There was not one thing that we had an issue with, it was seemless and beautiful. Kim Mackin was our wedding coordinator, and she was the key to this being a perfect day.

The whole process with our wedding was amazing from start to finish. Jillian was a bundle of joy and her enthusiastic, fun attitude was what really sold us on the venue (and also the fact that it's gorgeous). From day one we knew we were in good hands and Jillian really helped us with customizing our package for the big day. She recommended vendors, all of which we loved, and gave us suggestions on fun additions that would really compliment us as a couple. I never hesitated to ask her questions and relied on her for a lot of the up-front planning.

Michelle was introduced to us 6 months later and words cannot even describe how much we all adore her. I was sad to lose Jillian, but happy when I soon found out Michelle was her replacement. She was responsive, professional and 100% my "go-to" person with anything and everything wedding related. She paid such close attention to little details we had for the big day such as our table markers, cigar/scotch bar, etc. She even met with us in person to discuss our timeline to make sure our wedding day was exactly what we wanted. She went out of her way to make our lives easy and we knew that the day of our wedding we could trust her completely. With my parents living in Ohio and us living in New Jersey it was a bit of a challenge to plan at times, specifically with the tasting. However, Michelle went out of her way to organize weekend meetings for us - even on her days she wasn't supposed to be in the office. This made our lives a lot easier and it's rare to hear of a venue being so accomodating.

Our wedding day Michelle didn't miss a beat. She was organized, excited and was literally sprinting around making sure everything was perfect - even though she had another wedding earlier in the day. She also was so thrilled for us as a couple, which meant a lot. I put all of my trust in her to logistically make sure I didn't run into my husband and have the entrance I always hoped/dreamed of on my wedding day. We can't stop smiling thinking about the entire day. Our little touches were distributed throughout the venue and everything looked so beautiful. My heart skipped a beat when I saw all of our friends and family enjoying it all. We ate, drank and danced the night away.

My father paid for the wedding and he's a military dad and very picky when it comes to details around money, logistics, etc. Michelle blew him away with her detailed updates and consistent responsiveness. He had no problem putting all his trust in her and was completely thrilled with the final result. We couldn't be happier and it means the world to me that he was so incredibly pleased.

In addition, the overall staff was AMAZING as well from the servers, to bartenders to the valet staff...we knew our guests were in great hands. They heated up our food so it was fresh when we sat down, we were given appetizers at cocktail hour immediately and never once did I have to ask twice for a drink.

It was the best night of our lives and we couldn't have asked for a better wedding. Our friends and family keep complementing the food, the venue, the party - it's exactly the reaction we wanted. And most importantly my husband and I had a blast the entire time. It was a dream wedding.

We were very pleased with the Hotel DuPont and their services. Yes, they are expensive but the quality of food, beverage, and the ambiance of the Gold Ball Room is top notch. Only one minor negative - our representative changed mid-stream due a promotion. Both were good but it was a little disruptive.

Kim Mackin and honestly the entire staff at the Hotel Dupont were amazing from our first meeting until we got in the car the morning after. Because of budget constraints, we wanted a Jan/Feb wedding, and the hotel really gave us a great deal. We visited 23 reception venues in NJ, PA, and DE, and ultimately the Hotel was easily the best venue overall (quality of catering, historical significance, architectural beauty, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, etc, etc). What was really surprising to us was that it was also in the same price range as most of the "average" venues, and significantly cheaper than any of the other top five sites.

From our first consultation until the days following, Kim was ultra-responsive to every email and phone call, and even within the first weeks while we were still deciding on a venue, she treated us as if we had already paid tens of thousands of dollars. We must have exchanged a hundred or more emails with questions and responses, and we had no worries or frustrations going into our wedding day. Everything went smoothly - the mashed potato bar was a hit - and the dinner was out-of-this-world. The staff from the valet parking to the bell hops to the front desk to the bartender were all top notch, friendly, and practically tripped over themselves to offer us help.

The only criticism of the entire process was that the food we had at the tasting was slightly different than what we had at the reception. Specifically, the butternut squash had less sauce at our reception, and the dressing on our salad changed from a balsamic vinaigrette to a creamy dressing. Now, it's hardly a criticism (and honestly, it's the only one we can think of), and the food was some of the best I've had in my life (and our guests still can't stop raving). It was just a little unexpected, especially given the attention to detail with every other part of the night.

Kim had no problems with all of our custom requests like special liquors at the bar and placement of different decorations for the ceremony and reception. She really felt more like a wedding consultant from start to finish than just representing the hotel.

Our complementary suite after the reception was jaw dropping luxury every time we entered another room. I won't ruin the surprise for prospective couples, but I will never be able to top the night we spent at the hotel for my wife without going bankrupt. It was an incredible start to our marriage - one that we'll never forget.

I would very highly recommend the Hotel Dupont to family and friends, and if you don't think you can afford it, have a winter wedding - it was phenomenal and affordable.

Who knew that a beautiful, elegant and fairytale like venue existed in Delaware? I LOVED the DuPont. My guests raved about the 5 star rooms, the delicious wedding cake and about the service in general. My wedding consultant, Kim Mackin was amazing. She guided me in making the right decisions from the small details of how many tealight candles to the big one of organizing my rehearsal dinner. The DuPont is a treasure tucked away in the heart of Wilmington. It is a magical venue that will make you're wedding a day to remember. I'm a married woman of 40 days and people are still raving about my wedding. Most important, they're thanking me for introducing them to the Hotel--many are making their way back to Wilmington just to enjoy a weekend get-away.

You will never find a more elegant and beautiful reception location than the Gold Ballroom of Hotel duPont. It is a 5 star hotel in downtown Wilmington, DE. Built in the early 1920's it's decor and lavish rooms are are exquisite. The service is impeccable and they work with you to create a day that is wonderful. We never had to worry about anything the day of our wedding because the staff at hotel duPont are so thorough and on top of every detail. The food is amazing, the guest room rates that they offer are incomparable for this type of luxury, and the amazing ambiance is breathtaking. I will always cherish my wedding day at hotel dupont. We still go back to stay on our anniversaries and they still offer us an amazing room rate with champagne and strawberries. They also gave us two nights complimentary in the one bedroom suite. It was amazing. Book your wedding now!

The Hotel duPont was a dream wedding site. Our ceremony and reception were both held in the same location, but 2 different rooms. The Gold Ballroom is breathtaking! The one thing my husband wanted was high ceilings and they are 31 ft high, walls are hand etched, just gorgeous. Food was great, staff was very helpful. They also appoint a wedding coordinator through the hotel, ours was Jillian and she was amazing! I emailed her ALL the time with little questions and she was always there to help me out. The rooms in the hotel are also very nice and spacious. 5 stars all the way!

The staff goes above and beyond for you and always makes sure they are making you happy. The food is top notch - our guests are still talking about it. My husband and I did alot of research to find the perfect venue for our wedding. When we visited the Hotel duPont we knew immediately that it would be the perfect venue. It was exactly what we were looking for elegant, charming, beautiful, and close proximity to our ceremony.

For the year leading up to the wedding I worked with Jennifer H. who was absolutely amazing!! Jennifer and the rest of the hotel staff paid attention to every detail which made our reception flawless (they even decorated our wedding suite with rose petals and left chocolate strawberries and champagne)! Our guests all received their food at the same time and it tasted delicious...just like our initial wedding tasting!

We received so many compliments from our guests regarding the reception, cocktail hour, food, ambiance, and beautiful guest rooms. In fact my husband and I decided we would spend our first year anniversary weekend back at the hotel in a suite similar to the one we were compted the night of our wedding.

My husband and I fell in love with the hotel the first time we saw it. It was everything we were looking for...elegant, charming, friendly staff, amazing ballroom. We knew we had to be married here. Everyone asked us why DE (we were from PA) but we told them the ballroom is just jaw dropping gorgeous! The attention to detail the hotel provided and the responsiveness of the staff was flawless. We worked with Jillian and she was the absolute best! She was so easy to work with and so quick to respond to any of our inquires. Leading up to and including the day of the wedding we knew we could count on Jillian. She made everything at the hotel so easy. The food was spectacular, we recieved so many compliments. Our overall experience with the Hotel duPont was excellent. We are so happy to have celebrated the most important/best day of our lives there and we look forwarding to revisiting the hotel for other occasions as well.

From beginning to end our experience with the Hotel DuPont was amazing. Jillian, our wedding coordinator (through the Hotel) was fantastic. No request was to big or to small. She never made me feel like I was putting her out, even though I felt like I called or emailed her with a new request everyday. They made every aspect of our experience special and as stress free as possible. We were very well taken care of.

Most of our guest were coming from out of town, so we were concerned that the room block would be an issue, but the reservations department (Ralph in particular) went above and beyond to help accommodate all of our guests- and our guests loved their stay. The rooms are beautiful and the staff is amazing. The hotel is wonderful and elegant by any standards, but considering the discount you and your guests get in the wedding block, it is really out of this world.

The day of, again, Jillian was amazing. Everything went off without a hitch. The Gold Ballroom was stunning. The rest of the staff, the servers, bartenders, etc were so professional and a delight as well. The food was not as good as it was at our tasting, but my expectations are never super high for wedding food (except for the desserts, which were outstanding). Tough to cook a fillet perfectly for 200 people at once. Everyone seemed to enjoy it though, and we received a lot of compliments on the hors d'oeuvres and the desserts.

The venu was absolutely spectacular. I truly felt like a princess on my wedding day. Aparently there was issues with the setup for my wedding coordinator, and they temporarily lost some of the decorations after the event. But, I never knew that anything was wrong. There was also a little confusion with the tasting, and they make everyone share plates. Overall, though, I would higly recomed them. It was a 5-star experience.

Finding this hotel for our wedding was one of the best parts about it! We have not stopped receiving compliments on how beautiful the hotel and rooms were, the high levels of service and quality, food, and other amenitites. We worked with a wonderful catering manager who sadly is not there anymore (left after our wedding for other options), but the staff there is so helpful and accommodating that we couldnt have pictured our wedding anywhere else. The Gold Ballroom was STUNNING, and it was truly like being in a fairytale. We did not have to over-do the flowers because of how beautiful the room is already. We were treated with so much respect that people said I was one of the calmest brides they had ever seen- because I didn't need to worry about anything going wrong, that it would be handled with care. One suggestion is book in advance, they book up quickly, especially the May/June/September/October months, and also not to worry if your catering manager leaves in the time before your wedding- we went through 4 before having our last one and he was worth the wait! We booked them 2 years in advance and it was worth the money and the time!
