A loft-style wedding venue in Columbia, Maryland, The Other Barn at Oakland Mills embodies rustic charm and classic ambience. A fully renovated former dairy barn, the venue has been a part of the wedding industry since 1968. Ideal for outdoor ceremonies and receptions, The Other Barn at Oakland Mills' flower-filled courtyard provides the perfect setting for celebrating your union!

Facilities and Capacity
Intimate by nature, The Other Barn at Oakland Mills offers two locations that couples may choose from to host their ceremony and/or reception. The Loft can accommodate up to 175 guests and features wooden, high beam ceilings and a beautiful wood floor. While the Smithy/Tack Room can accommodate up to 65 guests and features glass doors that overlook the idyllic courtyard.

History
The Other Barn at Oakland Mills was acquired in the spring of 1709 by Charles Stevens. Once part of the Owings Dorsey Dairy Farm, the venue is one of the few buildings preserved when Columbia was built.

Location
The Other Barn at Oakland Mills is conveniently located in Howard County. The venue is less than 10 minutes from a number of Columbia's most popular landmarks, such as the Blandair Regional Park and Symphony Woods Park.

Awesome venue and resonably priced!

My wife and I rented the Other Barn as our wedding venue this month (June 2023) and were absolutely THRILLED with how everything turned out! The outdoor courtyard worked great for pictures and our ceremony, and the loft provided a cozy and welcoming atmosphere for cocktail hour and dinner. In addition, the location itself was great for those flying in from out of town - close to BWI, with plenty of hotels within 10 minutes to choose from.
More importantly though, the staff at the Other Barn were very communicative and considerate in the months leading up to the wedding, answering questions in a timely manner, building a custom floor plan for the reception, etc.
And final point - we noticed comments about issues with the A/C when we first looked into the Other Barn. At the time, we were informed that this had been addressed, and we found this to be true on the actual day. The loft was quite comfortable, despite it being an 85 degree day in June.
We had a great experience using the Other Barn for our wedding, and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking to tie the knot without breaking the bank!!

Best Day Ever!

We just had our wedding at The Other Barn and it was truly the best day! The court yard is so beautiful this time of year and made our ceremony feel so intimate and perfect. Everyone from the venue was super nice and responsive! 100% recommend The Other Barn!

Beautiful barn/loft area!

My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Other Barn in April 2023, and we could not have found a more fitting place! What a beautiful venue! The Loft was perfect for what we were looking for, as the location was very close to our church and new home. The price was also the best of all the venues we researched. The staff made things easy for us as far as communicating the rules and expectations of renting, and we really appreciated being able to come in for more than one tour as we were preparing for the big day. TOB worked great for our cocktail hour as well, and our guests enjoyed being able to spend time outside in the courtyard. We also got some great pictures of my husband and I leaving the barn at the end of the night with our guests holding sparklers next to the silo. It was truly a wonderful day! Thank you again for having us!

Beautiful Wedding Venue

Our wedding ceremony and reception at The Other Barn was perfect! The venue had the rustic and outdoor style, but did not need us to actually go to a farm.  We rented the courtyard for our ceremony, the Smith/Tacky room for our cocktail hour, and the Loft for our reception.  The venue coordinator, Brigitta, was wonderful to work with. She always responded to our emails quickly, usually the same or next day and sometimes even within hours. We were originally suppose to have our wedding in May 2020, but had to reschedule due to covid.  It was so easy getting our wedding rescheduled for May 2021.  Brigitta basically told us to select our new date, and as long as it was not already booked we could have it. We ended up with about 40 guests and there was plenty room for every to social distance. The price of the venue was very budget friendly.  The courtyard was absolutely beautiful for our ceremony.  The Loft did not need much decorations, a lot of the existing decor was enough to make the place look beautiful. Tables and chairs were all provided by the venue. They even set it up for us based on our floorplan. There was no approved list of caterers, so we were able to use one of our choice. Overall, there was a lot of flexibility for what we wanted to do, which fit our vision perfectly. I would highly recommend The Other Barn for a wedding venue.

Leap Year Barn Wedding

I got engageg in July 2019 and planned my wedding my wedding in 45 days. The staff helped me a ton with deciding on a floor plan.
My family cooked all of the food and it saved me a ton. I purchased decorations online. Everything was beautiful.

The Other Barn

We were so lucky to find this location for our wedding! Brigitta was incredibly helpful and we received so many compliments about how beautiful the wedding was! Couldn’t recommend this location more!

The Other Barn is a great venue

The entire experience was extremely easy with the Other Barn. The cost was reasonable and the venue was beautiful. Hanging lights in the dark loft made for a beautiful ambiance. The outdoor space for the ceremony was intimate and private. All in all I would recommend this venue. For reference we had about 60 guests.

Great experience

Overall great experience, Bridgetta was great and very helpful. Lady At the front desk could use some customer service training. She had an attitude every time I had to deal with her. Otherwise, it was the perfect venue for our day. Affordable, great location, beautiful.

The Other Barn was perfect

This was the perfect venue for us. It is a unique venue as the meeting room is upstairs. But the room was beautiful before we even decorated. They were flexible and the price was very reasonable.
