Yummy !
Solid product... solid service! What more can I say!
Having worked side by side with Jennifer on many weddings and events, I can attest to her generosity of spirit and sincere professionalism. A true creative, Jen's cakes taste incredible and look astonishing! She tailors each cake to suit the unique needs and style of the individual couple she's working with and delivers a quality product with the utmost care. The cakes Jen has created for my own daughters' birthdays and baptisms, have been packed with some serious "wow!" factor, and were always a huge hit with every single one of my guests. I always feel blessed when a couple chooses to use both our services, as it gives me a chance to inspire and be inspired by Jen artistry and to carry a couple's theme or look through the entire wedding, from when the invitation is opened to when the last crumb of cake has been eaten. It is always a pleasure to work with She Takes The Cake!
They do beautiful cakes and they are yummy. Great company!

Frequently Asked Questions for Wedding Cake
Do you offer private tastings or open house tastings?
Yes, but tastings are by appointment only and are usually a formality as most of our brides have decided booking us is almost certain.

What are your tasting hours?
They are done by appointment in studio or off site to suit the couple's convenience. Note that summer appointments are very limited due to prime wedding season schedule.

Describe how you price, such as by slice or by tier, for your cakes?
By the slice is still common in our locale so we do it this way. Average price for one of our cakes is between $8-$11 per serving.

Does the price include the top tier of the cake?
You do pay for the top tier.

Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles?
We specialize in couture, one of a kind cake designs created especially for each couple. Inspiration can and does come from anywhere.

What (if any) special ingredients, such as fresh fruits or farm-fresh butter, do you use in your cakes?
Freshest ingredients available are used in our cakes.

On average, how far in advance of the event do you prepare the cake?
Our cakes are never frozen, we bake your cake as close to your event as possible with labor and time frame for intricate detail considered. Typically we bake 2 days prior to event, giving your cake ample time to "rest" so that the flavors are at their peak.

How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?
Ideally we do one cake per weekend because our cakes are so complex. If all the planets line up just right, we might take two. (same delivery area, same time frame, small cakes...)

Will you work with the client's florist to garnish the cake?
We recommend our preferred florists as fresh flowers are not our ideal choice for your yummy cake, if you desire fresh, we have a short list of florists we'd like you to use but we can be flexible.

What (if any) cake accessories, such as a cake stand or cake cutter, do you rent out?
We do not charge rentals for most of our equipment but we do require a security deposit on these items.

Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee?
Delivery is the only "hidden" charge you will have; it ranges depending on location and we go as far as you need us to go.

Additional Questions and Answers
Please note that we ARE in fact a licensed and inspected studio bakery but we answered "No" as we are goverened by the NYS Department of Ag and Markets, not the Health Department.

Hey...did you know our fondant tastes delicious?  We make it right here in the studio!

Yes, we are considered expensive for our area.  No, you will not likely find cakes like ours elsewhere in our area.

We look forward to hearing from you!  Visit the website to browse Jen's cake photos, take in some of the basic information and then fill out the inquiry form on the site and we'll get in touch with you as soon as we can.

It is common for us to book up very quickly as we do limit the number of cakes we will book each season.
