Rhonda, the owner, runs a wonderful business. We could not have been more happy with our wedding cake! We did a tasting with her and she provided many cakes, fillings, and frostings to choose from. We went over styles and designs as well. Her cakes are equally beautiful and delicious! She delivered our cake on-time and in perfect condition - it was beautiful! Our guest were raving about how good it was! We chose two flavors: champagne cake with chocolate ganache filling and dark chocolate cake with raspberry filling. She makes everything from scratch with fresh ingredients.

I was very pleased with the wedding cake that was designed for me by Sweet Valley. We had not planned on even having a wedding cake, so I was thrilled that they could accommodate us just 3 weeks before the wedding date! The tasting they set up was wonderful and they had several frosting and cake flavors for my SIL and I to try. We chose 2 combinations for our 3-tiered cake: a red velvet with white chocolate cream cheese frosting and a mocha cake with raspberry filing topped with white chocolate buttercream frosting. To top it off, Sweet Valley made fondant versions of our adopted yellow & black Lab pups for the top - very true to the photos!! Everyone commented on how tasty the cake was and it was very affordable. Sweet Valley provided a cake box for our leftovers (there wasn't much as they helped us order the right amount of cake) and we are looking forward to our 1 year anniversary mini-cake!

They were wonderful and friendly! I already knew that I wanted a "smores" wedding cake, but didn't have a clear vision for it. She prepared half a dozen varieties for tasting, with lots of different options. And when it came to final look, we went through pictures I found online of what I liked and definitely did not like. The final cake was absolutely amazing! She even found someone to lend us a slab of varnished wood for the base--saved us $50! My favorite part about Sweet Valley wedding cakes, though, is the "top layer." She doesn't recommend saving the top tier in the freezer because it goes very stale, so she instructed us to call one week before our first anniversary, and she will make us a brand new small cake to celebrate with!

We had a very nice first impression of Rhonda and we were happy with what she had to offer.
However after the event of our daughter's wedding, it has been a different story.
We were pleased with the presentation and display. It ended up that we had cupcakes left and there was no way we could eat them all so we had to discard them. We had paid 10 cent extra per cupcake for filling. It ended up that most of those cupcakes had about a dime size of filling or none at all.
Then in the contract it states that you will be refunded the cost of 50 dollars for their cupcake holder. We paid that day for everything. About 2 weeks after the wedding we called to make sure they had picked up the diplay tier. They had.
It is now October and we have yet to receive our 50 dollar deposit. We have called and asked why? It is the old famous excuse " the check is in the mail." I like how she would never wait for her payment but does not respect her customer after the event is over. Waiting for and really not expecting a check soon.

Called and met with Amanda and Rhonda for a tasting. They were very flexible for the tasting and we had a good experience. We actually booked the cake that day because we were so impressed with the two ladies and their cake, very tasty.

Owego and surrounding areas got hit really hard September 8th-10th with rain. Lots of flooding and it devastated the area, and to this day the area has still not recovered. Needless to say Sweet Valley was hit. After a couple of weeks I had not heard from Sweet Valley as to whether they could still do our cake or not. We completely understood if they couldn't, but we needed a yes or no answer so we could make different plans if need be.

I called their business number which would not let me leave a message, so I continued to call for the next few days and eventually the number was not in service any more. I then had a local friend stop by and see what they could find out. The store was obviously not operational, but because I had not heard anything I could only assume that Rhonda and/or Amanda found a different place to use or could use their home to make the cake or some other means.

I then found them on facebook and saw that they updated their status to..."As with many of the businesses in Owego we suffered flood damage. We are currently assessing what needs to be done so that we can reopen quickly. One thing we are sure of is that a new floor will need to be installed. We will keep you all posted. For those that have orders with us, we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss your status." So I waited a little bit longer to try and contact them again assuming they would contact me.

I finally wrote on their wall asking them to please contact me or give me info to contact them so I could find out whether they were still able to do my wedding cake. No response.

Stopped at their shop and left two notes, one under the front door and one wedged into the back door asking them to contact me. At this point it is about 2 weeks before my wedding. I don't want to assume they aren't doing it and take my business else where and come my wedding day have two cakes there. Not to mention I wanted to contact them so I could get my refund if they weren't going to do my cake. Still I hear nothing.

Google search contact info for Sweet Valley and find what is probably Rhonda's personal e-mail. So I e-mail it explaining I just need a yes or no answer and to please let me know asap. Still no response.

We didn't know Rhonda or Amanda's last name to try and find another way to contact them, but my now husband was some how able to find Rhonda's personal facebook page and got her last name. We then looked it up in the phone book and called her house number. No answer.

Call the house number a couple of hours later and YEAHHHH we got to speak to Rhonda. I told her I have been trying for the past two weeks to contact her to see if she could still do our cake. She said that she couldn't do it. Woohoo finally our yes or no answer. She went in to explanation saying her sons got flooded blah blah blah. I understand life was rough at that point, but she could have given me a 30 second phone call a long time ago saying she couldn't do it. She would call me the next day to let me know when we could meet up to get my refund. Before hanging up I asked if she had my number to call me back, she said "yes I still have your information and contract." Wow so you had my info all this time and you didn't contact me. Nice way to run a business.

6pm the next day, still no word from her. So I call her, "oh I was just about to call you!" Yeah okay I'm not so sure that I believe her about that. Finally set up a time and place and I did get my refund.

All in all I had to do ALL of the leg work for THREE weeks when all she had to do was call me and tell me that she could not make my cake. I would be a customer of hers if this is what she would have done. However, I will never set foot in her store again.
