Additional Questions and Answers

Do you have samples of wedding ceremonies?

Yes. We have a variety of choices available for couples who want to create a custom ceremony. Couples may select their vows, up to 3 readings, to present flowers to their parents, opening, closing, ring ceremony, and a unity candle or sand ceremony. We also have prepared material for couples who want a no fuss ceremony.

We need help writing our couple’s statement and timeline. Can you give us some guidance?

It can be hard to put your feelings into words. Your couple’s statement is about those feelings. Here are some questions to help you find the words.

        - Why do you want to get married?

        - When did you realize you wanted to spend the rest of your lives together?

        - What are the strengths of your relationship?

        - How do you deal with the weaknesses?

        - How does your future spouse support you?

The timeline is how you might see your future together. It should include important milestones like buying a home, starting a family, needing a bigger home, your education, your children’s education, and the like. There is a sample timeline on our website. It can be seen at the bottom of the document. If you still feel like you need some guidance, email your minister.

Our wedding venue doesn’t have a sound system. Do you have one?

Your wedding vows are important. Of course you want your family and friends to hear them. We have a sound system available for a small fee. Included in this fee is the use of a wireless microphone for the Officiant, a corded microphone for your readers, and a small but powerful amplifier. The Officiant’s mic is powerful and will pick up your voices. A CD player can be hooked up to the system. You will need to provide a CD player and someone to operate it.

When should we apply for our marriage license?

Once you pick up your license, it is good for 30 days. We recommend you apply 1-2 weeks prior to your wedding. You both apply together; only one of you has to pick it up. For more information on obtaining your license in St. Louis City or County, click here.

What happens at the rehearsal?

If you have a wedding coordinator, your coordinator and minister will run the rehearsal. Otherwise your minister will organize your rehearsal. The rehearsal takes about 45 minutes.

1. Present your Officiant with your marriage license

2. Answer bride’s and groom’s questions

3. Practice seating of the family

4. Practice the procession

5. “Block” ceremony

- review your ceremony selections

- show the wedding party and readers where to stand

- go over music selections

6. Practice recession

7. Review seating, procession, and recession

8. Answer any remaining questions
