Jewelry Care Instructions:
Polishes or cloths specifically designed for silver should be used to remove tarnish from sterling silver products. Be sure to carefully read labels and warnings carefully. A soft toothbrush with a dab of toothpaste will also remove tarnish from silver. You should store your sterling silver either in a jewelry pouch, box or ziploc bag. Another way to help keep tarnish to a minimum is to wear your jewelry often.
To clean 14kt gold-filled and/or 14kt gold, use a damp cloth or jewelry cleaner and gently wipe clean. Be sure to carefully read labels and warnings carefully. What is gold-filled? 14kt gold-filled or "rolled gold" as it's sometimes called is made by heat and pressure-bonding a thin layer of gold to a brass core. Karat gold covers the brass surface, making it tarnish-resistant. This product has 100x more gold than a gold-plated product and will last for many years if cared for properly.
With proper attention and handling, pearls can last for generations. However, because cultured pearls are relatively soft compared to other gemstones and precious metals (sterling & gold), it's important to take special care of them to ensure they remain bright and beautiful. Continuously exposed to harmful products -- such as cosmetics, perfumes, hair sprays or abrasive detergents -- pearls' lustre can diminish. For this reason, light cleaning with a soft, damp cloth after each wearing is recommended.
Acids in body oils and perspiration can also damage pearls' lustre in the same way. Put on your pearls after applying makeup, perfume and hair spray, and then wipe the pearls afterward with a soft damp cloth to remove any harmful build-ups. Occasional washing with a mild soap is also recommended.
While most other gemstones have a greater hardness than pearls, it is also recommended that you keep them clean and avoid exposure to chemicals. Do not wear your pearl and gemstone jewelry into the shower or swimming pool. Chlorine and other chemicals can change the color of your gems.
Similarly, exposure to high heat can discolor some gemstones. Keep your gems at room temperature.
We also recommend that you fasten your necklaces with the clasp in front of you then gently slide the clasp around to the back. Fastening your clasp this way creates less pressure on the strand and clasp.
Proper jewelry care can ensure that you will enjoy your fine silver, gold, pearl and gemstone jewelry for many years.
SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS: To be classified a “crystal” there must be between 22-30% lead content. This is what gives crystals it’s highly refractive quality. Swarovski crystals contain 32% lead. Swarovski crystals are the finest crystal beads available and are manufactured by Daniel Swarovski of Austria. They are known around the world for their superior quality and brilliance. Many swarovski crystals come AB or Aurora Borealis. This means they have a pastel iridescent coating on one half of the bead. This helps the crystal reflect light and creates a beautiful shimmer of color in natural or artificial lighting.
CARE: Clean with mild soap and a cotton cloth. Rub gently, rinse with water, pat and air dry.
CZECH GLASS: Czech glass beads have been made for hundreds of years by Bohemian Czech glass bead makers. Czech fire polished beads are made by pressing glass in a mold, then roughly faceting the bead by hand or machine. The bead surface is then melted to fire polish it. This being done to give it a better luster. These are high quality glass beads and therefore are more expensive.
CARE: Clean with liquid soap and cloth. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Allow to air dry.
GEMSTONES: A precious or semiprecious stone that can be cut and polished for use as a gem. They are often used to make beautiful jewelry. I use various gemstones in my jewelry. Turquoise, Jade, Amazonite, Jasper, Tiger eye, Agate, Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Garnet, Adventurine, Lapis, Moonstone, Onyx, etc. Your gemstones will need occasional attention to stay beautiful. DO not let them come in contact with household cleaners. Do not wear them in chlorine or salt water. Always remove your jewelry when you shower to avoid contact with cleaners or lotions.
CARE: Use a mild liquid soap, rub gently with cotton cloth, rinse with warm water and pat dry. Allow to air dry.
