Name: Bayann Aburub
Blog: Bay’s Style Diary
Location: Freehold, New Jersey
Wedding Date: March 26, 2017

WW: Thank you for joining us, Bayann! We’re thrilled to have you participate in our Engagement Edit series. What has been the most exciting thing about wedding planning thus far?

BA: I think the most exciting thing about my wedding planning has been the creative parts of it. Being able to plan things, whether it’s our engagement shoot outfits, choosing my bridal shower theme, picking the floral decor, everything I’ve done reflects my own personal style, and I really get to be creative and have fun with adding a little spunk in everything I do. Not only that, my fiancé getting excited about little things is so fun to me! I love when he gets into the photo shoot, or gives his opinion about flowers! I’ve never seen this side of him before and I love it!

WW: What would you say has been the toughest decision in regards to your wedding?

BA: The toughest thing in regards to my wedding would have to be a tie between two things. Guest list, and budget. With having such a big family, our parents having so many friends, even my grandparents have a list of who they would like to invite! You can’t please everyone, and I think having to be that particular about everyone on your list is tough, because you also don’t want to upset anyone or leave people out, but at the same time, things are expensive and you have to at some point put a limit. Also budget is so important, but so hard to stick to. With so many amazing wedding decor ideas, and vendors, and inspiration out there, you get overwhelmed and just want everything! (Pinterest makes you want everything!) One simple picture of something can make you spill over budget so easily, so you have to be selective about what’s important to you and what you’re willing to spend more on.

WW: Could you tell us about your #JustSaidYes moment to your fiancé, Adam?

BA: My #JustSaidYes moment was SO special to me, because Adam really planned everything so well! I was so surprised at every detail he thought of, like having a song playlist with all my favorite songs, my favorite cupcakes, having a photographer capture the moment, and even bringing me extra shoes! Adam proposed to me on a vintage sail boat, overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset. It was absolutely perfect and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It really was a night I will never forget!

WW: In addition to your blog, you have a full-time job AND your own fashion line! What is your biggest tip for time management when planning a wedding?

BA: Well, my phone calendar is my best friend! If it wasn’t for setting alarms for myself, I would forget everything. But I would say the biggest tip for planning your wedding would be do the BIG things first. We all have hectic schedules and other things going on. When I first got engaged, I made sure to get the biggest things out of the way, or things that take the most time/money. For example, booking your venue, booking your photographer and videographer, booking your DJ, and booking your florist. In my mind, I was like when I get all the big things out of the way, I can actually focus on the little details and have fun with the process if I know all the more stressful things are done and out of the way at the beginning. Let’s face it, not EVERYTHING about planning your wedding is going to be fun, so why not have the last 3 to 4 months of your wedding planning process actually be fun and creative, so you're not stressed and rushing and you can take time on the things you’ll actually enjoy.

WW: Did you find any of your vendors on WeddingWire? If so, which ones?

BA: I did! I actually came across my venue on WeddingWire, and I also found the boutique I ended up buying my dress from on WeddingWire as well.

WW: Have any wedding planning tools on WeddingWire been especially useful to you?

BA: Using some of the WeddingWire tools really helped my fiancé and I manage our budget as well as the WeddingWire checklist helped me manage all my vendors and make sure that I was on track for everything I needed to get done! Also, my fiancé and I are HUGE on reviews. WeddingWire really helped me be able to see if a vendor was right for me with their reviews tool, and vice versa, I hope to use the reviews tool so also tell other brides about my experiences with each vendor as well.

WW: How will your glam sense of style be incorporated into your wedding day?

BA: Well, starting with my venue, everything is very regal looking and the entire venue is black and white. I carried that classic, glam theme all the way into my flowers and bridesmaids by doing all white flowers with hints of silver and crystal accents. I want everything to look super clean, but still over the top!! My bridesmaids are wearing two different dresses that are silver satin with crystal beading all throughout. And the groomsman will be in super classic black and white tuxedos. My dress really adds to the glam aspect of it also, but I’ll keep that one a surprise!

WW: Finally, what moment of your wedding day are you most excited for?

BA: I am most excited for marrying the man of my dreams! This wedding is a reflection of my personal style and it will be amazing, but my groom is what makes the whole thing worthwhile! Also, wearing my dress ;)
