On a Kansas City bachelor party there are a few basics you must include: sports, steak, ‘cue, and music. Sprinkle in a great downtown scene, and you’ve got yourself a guys’ weekend to remember.

Start planning your Kansas City bachelor party from activities to food to accommodations and much more.

What to Do

Kansas City is a mecca for sports fans, so consider scheduling your KC bachelor party around a game. Check the schedules for the Chiefs if you’re a football fan or book seats in the “Blue Hell” section of their MLS Sporting Kansas City stadium for an epic die-hard sports fan experience. If you’re more of a baseball crowd, book seats at Craft and Draft to take in a Royals game—while you watch you can have pours of 75 beers, including local and regionally recognized brews.

Speaking of brews, consider a trip to Boulevard Brewing Company where you can take a tour of the behind-the-scenes action, then take your time to enjoy a few choice selections (and by a few, we mean 30 tap handles) in their beer hall.

If spirits are more your thing, Tom’s Town is the place for you. The distillery offers one-hour tours with a tasting of each of their spirits for $10. In the tasting room you can pair bar bites with craft cocktails.

And what’s a celebration without cigars? At Fidel’s Cigar Shop in the Westport district you can find a wide selection to buy from, or enjoy in the shop paired with a good drink.

Of course, Westport is where most of the night action will take place on your Kansas City bachelor party. This bar district is home to many favorites including the local dive Kelly’s Westport Inn, McCoy’s Public House (check out their patio), and The Westport Saloon, a whiskey bar with live music.

For more live music, you should head to CrossroadsKC, a fantastic outdoor concert venue in the heart of the city’s art district. Check their schedule for all different types of genres, with artists from Wyclef Jean to Band of Horses to Puddle of Mud.

What to Eat

Kansas City is home of some really epic barbeque, so make sure your visit here includes a dinner at at least one of the great spots like Arthur Bryant’s known for its slow-cooked meats and burnt ends; Joe’s, praised for its ribs, brisket, and Z-man sandwich—made with slow-smoked beef brisket, smoked provolone, and crispy onion rings on a Kaiser roll; and Q39, with its smoked ‘que and wood grilled meats in an urban-rustic chic setting.

Back in the Westport District, you can start or end the day at Char Bar, a BBQ and southern eats establishment complete with a beer garden. At this “house of meat” you can have a brunch of cheesy grits hushpuppies and smoked chicken hash or dinner with sandwiches like the brisket cheesesteak or the burnt heaven, an egg bun stuffed with burnt ends, smoked sausage, fried jalapenos, chipotle bbq mayo, and creamy slaw. End either meal with a trip to the beer garden where you can play lawn games with a pint.

Don’t get started on your meat sweats yet, because no Kansas City bachelor party is complete without a nice steak dinner. Anton’s is a taproom and restaurant with a casual vibe and 28-day aged cuts—you can enjoy one of 74 beers on tap along with your choice of KC strip, bone-in filet, or a T-bone, among others. On a bit more sophisticated of a scale—but maintaining a laid-back vibe—is Gram and Dun, known for its outdoor patio and seasonally-inspired menu. Be sure at least someone in your party orders the coffee-crusted Rosewood Rang Wagyu Ribeye, which comes with black garlic butter and fried shallots.

At The Rieger, you can find craft cocktails that pair beautifully with cured trout bruschetta, grilled flank steak, or a KC shrimp boil. Once dinner is done, head to their speakeasy below, The Manifesto, to continue the drinking.

What to Stay

To be in the heart of the city during your Kansas City bachelor party, book rooms at The Westin at Crown Center. On the more upscale end of things, this hotel is in walking distance or a short cab ride to plenty of downtown spots and has a large outdoor pool for those days you just need to hang back and relax.

The Kansas City Marriott Country Club Plaza offers easy access to the Westport district, as well as the Uptown Theater, Sprint Center, and Kansas City Art Institute.

The Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown offers urban vibes in an upscale high-rise, complete with modern rooms, suites with living rooms for great pre-game gatherings, cocktail bar, and a rooftop outdoor pool.
