Zoo Wedding

Lindsey, on January 18, 2014 at 11:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I am getting married September 12, 2015 at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium. I have a major problem! I have no idea what colors to go for. Before I knew that I could have my wedding at the Zoo, I was going to do an outdoors wedding with the reception at a barn. So we were going to go with orange and chocolate brown for a rustic feel. Since we will be having the wedding at the Zoo, I felt like another color choice would be appropriate, however I have no idea what colors I could use! I still will be going with the "country" theme (country songs, mason jars with animal crackers inside as gifts). I don't even know what flowers! Please help!

I think orange and brown are perfect for your wedding. Before I even read those colors I was thinking orange. Maybe throw in touches of green? Your call.

I'm not really sure about colors but I wanted to say your favor is such an awesome idea! I think that will fit perfectly for both the country style and the zoo style!

I think the chocolate and orange could still work, I think they're pretty bold colors but can also be country. When I think of a zoo wedding I think more of bold colors I think. Or like browns and tans and such.

Your original colors sound good to me. If you want to add to it I'd say a khaki or tan. Any of those nature based colors I think would look great. Don't let the idea of "zoo" make you feel pressured into a theme. I think it could really turn out amazing & kinda "style unveiled" ish.

That's so cool and I love the Columbus Zoo (a friend of mine is a keeper there)!

I actually think orange and chocolate brown would still work. It looks like the colors in their event space are pretty neutral, so you won't need to worry about things clashing. And I would recommend avoiding trying to go with animal patterns/animal prints, bc that won't go with your rustic feel.

This is a really good site for color combinations, and may help with some ideas.

I just found this post from Better Homes and Gardens. It has some good schemes: http://www.bhg.com/wedding/color/perfect-wedding-color-combos/#page=10

On the favors, can you make a note that says something to the effect of "thank you for getting WILD at Lindsey and FH's wedding!"

Also, I might add yellow or green to the mix.

I went to a Zoo wedding 2 years ago and they used a pretty green and tan with accents of brown.

My wedding will be at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on April 18, 2015 at the Africa Event Center. I think your choice of colors are excellent! Your colors will go well with either venue at the zoo. They are very earthy. I love the animal cracker idea!!

Mine will be mainly black and white striped with a touch of red. We are requesting gifts to be in form of a donation to the zoo and we will have an adopt an animal table. I'm still trying to figure out what else to do. We just moved from Columbus to upstate NY so it's a challenge to plan.

I am glad that I stumbled upon someone else having their wedding at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium!! All the best to you!!
