Would you be disappointed?

Cece, on July 21, 2022 at 11:38 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 25
Would you be disappointed if you attended a wedding that had no wedding cake? Due to the pandemic and multiple postponements, we have lost 3 bakers (and 2 deposits). We are now four months out from our wedding, and I am wondering if it is even worth the hassle of trying to find yet another baker. We will be getting married in New Orleans, and will be serving 2 traditional New Orleans desserts - bananas foster and rum bread pudding. Would you be happy with the two desserts? Or would you be disappointed there wasn’t cake also?

I don't like either bananas foster or bread pudding (but I know that most people like either one, the other, or both), but I still wouldn't be disappointed not to have cake. We had doughnuts and pies at our wedding and no cake, no one was disappointed.

I wouldn’t be disappointed. I actually like bread pudding. I typically don’t eat the cake at the wedding anyway so I’d be fine. I’m sure your guest don’t be upset that didn’t get cake.

Not at all. I'm fascinated by all the different choices that the couple makes for their wedding day. And two desserts! How fun Smiley smile I'd get a bit of both and do a happy little dance.

I wouldn't think that anyone would be disappointed in not having cake, especially since you already have a couple other options (and even better that they're traditional to the area). I think your dessert options sound delicious! Sorry to hear that your cake bakers keep falling through!

Not even a little. I’m disappointed when I go to weddings that ONLY have wedding cake and no other dessert Smiley sad. Your desserts sound great. We only had a shortcake bar (biscuits, a variety of berries, and fresh whipped cream) and people RAVED about it.

I think you're fine without a cake, especially since you're serving two desserts.

I look forward to cake. I don’t get excited over cupcakes, doughnuts or other alternatives, because they don’t have that same special occasion feel. While I personally don’t care for either bananas period or bread pudding, but I would never say anything to the couple. Even if someone is upset or disappointed, they will never tell the couple so the couple assumes that everyone is happy. If your guests love what you are serving, that is all that matters.

I also look forward to the cake, but I understand it is your wedding and you do you! If you don't want cake... don't have cake! As a guest, I would appreciate if you only gave me crackers. I'm here to celebrate you!!!

I love that you're doing something with "regional" flair and would love bananas foster!

I wouldn't be disappointed that there is not a cake that is totally the couples decision. Personally I don't like either of the desserts mentioned but I just wouldn't eat it, the wedding isn't about me so I wouldn't let that bother me. Do what works best for you and your partner.

I certainly wouldn't be - cause long as you got something sweet I'm pretty golden. Though I do know some people love cake. My father for instance is a wedding cake fanatic. He used to be a wedding videographer and he always made sure he got a piece of cake. It's his favorite thing at weddings.

We're having one, but I can't imagine having to look for a baker, our cake came with our package and we had a handful of bakers we got to choose from. At the end of the day though, it's your wedding. If you guys don't want cake? Then no cake it is!

Personally, I'm not really a cake person. I'll eat it because it's offered, I don't not like cake, and I know the couple paid a lot for it, but if there were other options that would definitely be my preference.

I wouldn't be disappointed as long as there was some kind of dessert. I love that you are doing desserts that are local traditions. The only time I get annoyed re. dessert at a wedding is if the couple serves themselves one thing and everyone else something else.

Maybe get a mini cake for you and your new hubby to slice ???? I have heard of a lot of people doing this and getting a sheet cake from Costco or something like that in case you want to people please. Those two desserts sound amazeballs- This is your day and if this is right for you then do it !!!!

I wouldn’t be disappointed with no cake as long as there are other dessert offerings, which you say you will have, so that’s fine! Even if folks don’t personally like those options, at least you offered. I attended a wedding last year where they had no cake and no dessert at all, nothing sweet and I was disappointed - of course I would never say anything to the couple but it was a letdown. However I have a major sweet tooth so take that fit what it’s worth 😂
