Would you add a second dessert?

Btbride, on April 8, 2019 at 10:09 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 23
Hi guys! So, 4 months to my wedding and I’m starting to make lots of little decisions. One of the things I’ve been considering is adding a new dessert option for our reception. Our main dessert is an all-you-can-eat ice cream bar from our favorite local ice cream parlor, and we are SO stoked about it. Lately I’ve been wondering if it would be a good idea to also get some pies from a highly rated local pie shop as another option. With the cost of the pies, delivery fees, and getting disposable pie plates/servers, it would likely be around $300 or less to add them in. My fiancé doesn’t seem to think another dessert is necessary, but I’m not sure. I’d love to hear any thoughts you guys have!

I would love to add a second desert to our cake! I've got a major sweet tooth and would love the variety. But it’s defiantly a nice-to-have! If you’re budget allows it and you want to do it, I say go for it!!

I also have a major sweet tooth, if it's in your budget to have another dessert I would do it!

I would definitely do it as an option for vegan, dairy free, or lactose intolerant guests.

That's a great point to consider! Unfortunately, I don't think the pies we're considering would be vegan or dairy-free, since they're from a fairly "old school" type place. However, we do have a dairy-free/vegan ice cream option for those that need it!

If it were me as a guest, I would prefer a 2nd dessert option because I don't like ice cream. I would prefer cupcakes.

I don't know if it's necessary but if it's in budget it sounds good! I always like multiple options, and maybe having something for people that don't eat dairy would be good.

It's not necessary, and would totally depend on your budget/want's if you decided to add the second option. Sure, it's always nice to have extra, but do you really want to spend another $300 towards food/dessert?

If you can afford it I say do it. Not everyone likes the same type of dessert and maybe not everyone is a fan of ice cream while others might like to have ice cream with pie. I think is a great idea so do it!

I'm doing a dessert table instead of favors. Simply cause favors get left or trashed. I know my guest will prefer the dessert table because we all love snacking.

All you can eat ice cream is plenty in my opinion.

My fiancee is firm...our cake is the one and only dessert.
Since he is paying for the biggest part of everything, I'm ok with that.
    I think icecream sounds wonderful!

Hmmmm...from a bride perspective I'd say stick to singular dessert...not worth the added costs.

From a guests perspective, as long as you have regular chocolate ice cream, I'm good! (also I'm not a pie person but my FH LOVES pie.)

I don't have much of a sweet tooth so I would suggest having a savory late night snack instead. Some people do pretzels, a popcorn bar, pizza, or sliders just to name a few. We had grilled cheese sandwiches that were a hit with everyone as well as s'mores.

I don’t think it is necessary, but if it’s in budget and you want it, go for it. That said, I think ice cream offers plenty of variety— different flavors for different tastes, and I see you have a vegan option— I think you have it covered! Of course there will be *someone* who doesn’t like ice cream (they might not care for pie either!) but you can’t cater to everyone, can only do the best you can: ice cream is plenty!

That would be the dream!! But we’re having a Sunday wedding that’s ending at 9, so I don’t think a late night snack will quite fit into the schedule. I’ve never been to a wedding that had a savory late night snack but I’ll die of happiness if I ever do!

Thanks! We’ll have 5 different flavors, but there won’t be toppings or anything like that. Would that be enough variety for you as a guest?

I don't think it's necessary, but if it's something you WANT, I think it would be a nice addition.

We're doing something similar. We're having a gelato cart with 6 flavors, and a desert bar with a selection of cupcakes, brownies, and other small deserts.

If it's within your budget and it's something you would enjoy, I don't see why not. We're having a dessert buffet table so my opinion will always be the more, the better! Also, with having a dessert with the ice cream it makes it "a la mode" and who doesn't love that?
