Why Are Flats Ugly

I'm almost 5'8" so heels typically make me equal height as or in some instances, taller than my fiance. I wear flats 365 a year and love shopping for them. WHY are wedding flats SO UGLY?! Seriously like the ugliest things I've ever seen. I did like one Kate Spade pair but just can't spend $365 on...

Any tips on where to shop for some attractive bridal flats? Tall brides shouldn't have to have ugly shoes Smiley smile

Ebay. I'm a tiny bride with giant feet and picky taste in shoes, and that's where I found mine. (The wedding was on grass and I didn't want to break my ankle!)

I found mine at Macy's. I bought them to replace my 4.5 inch heels when my feet begin to hurt.

I'm 5'9 and wear a size 11 (!!!!!) and my flats are adorable. Nine West outlet. The blue are for the ceremony and the sparkley ones are for the reception. Total cost for both? $50.

I agree, I dont' think she's being dramatic because I, too, didn't think a single pair of flats posted in this thread were cute, and most certainly weren't anything I would wear on my wedding day.

AMEN!!! I completely feel your pain! I am 5'10 and have search HIGH and LOW for cute flats. They certainly are few and far between! If your budget allows (mine did not) vera wang makes very awesome flats under her "lavendar" label. My wedding is next month and I JUST bought my shoes this morning. Here they are! (My colors are purple and champagne)

Well, you know, you can always post that you don't like what you see of something and give little to no input for ways people can actually help you. There are ugly flats, just like they're ugly heels... but there are nice ones too. Everyone doesn't have the same taste, though. It would help, if you want suggestions, to give people a hint of what you like. I like strappy shoes. I like shoes with flowers on them. I like simple shoes. I like glittery shoes. I like red shoes, blue shoes, white shoes. Why are flats ugly? What difference do you see between them and heels? Are heels not ugly to you? Do you like sandals?

What in the world? I believe I said thank you for the input. I wasn't looking for shoes - more or less tips on recommended stores for bridal shoes, and flats in particular. Sheesh. I'm relatively new to this forum thing so by all means, please accept my apologies if I haven't been "posting" correctly or in a helpful manner. However, there were plenty of helpful responses. Someone mentioned Charlotte Russe, Amazon, Ebay. All great suggestions! THANKS!!

Nobody said you had to comment if my post was too confusing or dramatic for you Smiley smile

I'm there with the OP, same height situation and with the way my dress has been ordered my bridal consultant said not to go taller than 2 1/4"...I think it is just discouraging trying to find a pretty or even sexy shoe in a flat of kitten heel...especially when you see all the gorgeous options that are 3"

Brea, thank-you so much for bringing up this point. I'm going to pack a pair of ballet flats in with my gear for the reception! I just know my feet are going to hurt later. Since I'm leaving in my dress and NOT taking it off til we arrive at our honeymoon destination. This is a wonderful idea.

So, therefore I had to look for some as well.

Now that you have posted and the ladies have responded I also have a place to look.

I wish you luck in your adventure and I don't doubt you'll find something just perfect! Smiley smile

I hear you! I'm 5'10 and although that's still short compared to FH :-) I don't want to tower over most of our guests. But as Celia said, I think a kitten heel may be a better option. At least most of those look nicer. I'm searching like crazy and will update you if I find something.

I have been having issues finding flats for a few months. I LOVED the khussa shoes suggested by Sandey. Thank you so much!

I had the same problem. I searched for months for the perfect wedding flats and couldn't find what I was looking for so I decided to DIY. I bought a pair of plain ivory flats from dessy.com and added rhinestones that I bought at Michael's.

I'm 5'7" & FH is barely 5'10" so wearing most heels makes me taller than which I don't particularly care for. I generally wear flip flops all year long so I know exactly where you're coming from haha. I was thinking about something like this for my wedding shoes, but preferably silver.

I totally know what you mean. While I'm not tall by any means (only 5'2"), FH is only 5'6" and I want to be noticeably shorter than him in all of our wedding pics so I was looking for flats too! I want mine to be plum purple (just b/c I'm all about funky shoes!) so I am going to go with this seller on Etsy. She's on vacation from now until Sept 11th but her stuff is super super cute and totally customizable! Check it out Smiley smile and good luck!!

I had the EXACT same problem. I am 5'10" and a total clutz to boot! Add that the ceremony is outdoors - FLATS a must. I almost had a nervouse breakdown until I stubled into the jewelry boutique and FOUND THEM!!! What makes it even greater - they were $19.00!!!!! Seriously look in the places where you would least expect them b/c all department stores and DSW, etc were a major fail for me. I found mine at a place called Charming Charlies - not sure if you have those in your area

You could try something like these..

#1 I love ANYTHING that sparkles
#2 maybe even something that has a small heel could work and still make you feel girly

Uhm... I LOVE that first pair!! Haha they wouldn't work with my dress, but man, I need to get those for my skinny jeans!!! Is that a Steve Madden label? Where can I get me some of those?
