Why Are Flats Ugly

Brea, on September 6, 2011 at 9:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 42

I'm almost 5'8" so heels typically make me equal height as or in some instances, taller than my fiance. I wear flats 365 a year and love shopping for them. WHY are wedding flats SO UGLY?! Seriously like the ugliest things I've ever seen. I did like one Kate Spade pair but just can't spend $365 on them.

Any tips on where to shop for some attractive bridal flats? Tall brides shouldn't have to have ugly shoes Smiley smile

I do have to say that the pictures do them nothing, and the shoes on your feet are to die for!

Haha thanks!! I actually did stumble across those in my endless search... They are super cute, but I'm not sure about the colors. Ivory is what I'm looking for to match the dress... I did consider doing the blue since our colors are all shades of blues and purples, but I'm not 100% sold on that particular shade. The quest continues...

Order them, and see what you think of them in person! You have plenty of time and zappos has free shipping, and free returns!

I had to get flats becaus i am already an inch taller than FH, I felt the same way but then I started just searching flats not wedding ones and found the cutest pair. I found that going to the stores and looking was better because a lot of the online pics dont do the shoes justice.

Honestly, I think you're being a little dramatic. I don't know your style so I can't really suggest based on that...

but there are plenty of hot flats. I'm 5'10" - many men I've dated have been shorter than me. I know.

I got mine from elinor44 on eBay. She has a lot of flat shoes that are basically blinged-out ballet slippers.

I don't think she's being dramatic, Jamie...no offense to anyone, but a lot of shoes posted in this thread are really ugly. Lately I'm a fan of shimmery flats. I have the gold Mossimo ones Jamie posted and I love them, but if you don't want sparkle, then the pickings get slim. I think it might not be a bad idea to start looking into blue or purple shoes...there will be more options and they'll still fit your color scheme.

I am the same way - too tall, same height as FH. I can't wear heels, but i HATE flat styles!! I think most of these are pretty ugly, even.... i might possibly like 2 of the ones Jamie posted, but it would be a matter of seeing in person lol. Good luck, OP!!! Hope the ladies have helped you.

I understand but mine problem is for different reasons.

I am hesitant to buy online w/out being able to try on but every store I have been to, does not have my size. and honestly this is the case for anytiype of shoe shopping anyway, which is why I normally wear sandals or slippers of some kind.

I have horrible wide feet, in a size 9 or 9 1/2. I used to always wear an 8 1/2 but since gaining some weight, I currently wear 9 or 9 1/2. My big issue is the wide thing though, that has been an issue even before weight gain. I see I can order them that size online but I don't know if I want to spend the $ and not like them.

Also I need a flat or something just a small heel cause I can't walk well in heels, I hate heels. I would kinda of like a little heel though cause Fh is 6' 1'', and I am 5' 4''.

Celia, I'm a big fan of kitten heels! I think flats make my feet look big sometimes... but kitten heels have just enough height to eliminate the bigfoot effect Smiley smile lol

FH is a mere 2 inches taller than me, he likes heels, I like being shorter than him in pictures... so I will be having to find flats or kitten heels that we can both agree look cute as FH despises the look of most flats. Of course my dress is a very full A-line and there's no chance he'll ever see the shoes the whole night, but for the garter removal and I may change into heels for him for that segment of the evening =). Anyway I'm loving all the links people have provided! The very first link A.P. provided actually matches my dress, I have a champagne dress with cloth roses on the skirt =). I may need to order those...
