Who's setting up your decor and centerpieces for your DIY wedding

Dara, on January 28, 2016 at 8:05 AM Posted in Planning 2 45

Morning !! Smiley smile

I'm thinking of DIY my ceremony decorations and reception centerpieces... I was just wondering if I should pay someone to set up for both events because I rather have someone solely dedicated for it ... Did you have a family friend or a paid person to do it ?

We had our spaces the night before the wedding to set up. I asked my bridal party if they would mind helping me put everything out, and they all volunteered. With that many hands, we were done in 20 minutes.

If you don't have a lot of time the night before or day of, I would pay someone else to do it.

We will have from 12 - 5 the day before to decorate so hopefully we can get most of it done then. It will be my FH and I, both of our parents, and probably our 3 sisters. For the stuff we dont/cant put out the night before I plan to have very specific instructions and will have FH and our dads handle it Saturday morning.

If you are not going that route I think you should pay someone to do it (even if it is a family friend), unless they offer it for free that is not something you should ask/assume.

We will probably have sometime the day before to decorate but our rehearsal is at 4:30pm and our RH is at 6. I doubt I will get anytime for it. What I may do though if see if I can pick up the napkins for my nieces to fold and stuff with our thank you inserts that evening. Our weddig isn't until 7pm day of so we will put out decorations that morning before noon.

I asked a cousin who is really good with interior design and antiquing to do my set up. It's been a huge stress relief to just share a pintrest folder with her to exchange ideas and then I'm just gonna let her loose with the list of to-dos. She's family and I love her style so it's easy to just let it go! I recommend a good friend or family member you trust!

I have two coordinators at my venue, as well as a staff they have to help set up and clean up. So I just need to bring everything the night of the rehearsal, so I plan on getting pictures of the mock ups of the two designs we are toying with and then a list of what each table needs (example 4 votives, 1 globe, 1 suitcase, etc.) to make it easy.

The venue set up most of the stuff. My Matron of Honor, her husband and myself set up the minor stuff such as; guest books, place cards, wedding favors, signs, and table numbers.

I'm paying someone to do it. I wanted my invited guests to enjoy the wedding and not feel responsible for anything.

I did it pretty much myself. I had a lot of people offer to help, but it was easier and less stressful to put things where I wanted them instead of trying to explain it to others.

They allow us to set up the night before but I'm going to have to figure out a schedule between the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner. If not, I'm going to pay someone to do the day of.

I have a planner, her assistant and a friend that offered to help them. I'll probably try to slide in there because I like setting events up, but I'm sure I'll be shooed out of the room immediately. lol

My venue will be doing it for me, with the exception of hanging the aisle garland. I mentioned that I needed to factor in time for that on the day-of, and my cousin that I'm close with offered to take care of it for me

If we have the ceremony outside, we can set up the day before and we'll (mothers and bride) do it ourselves. If we have to move it inside, the venue will have to flip the room so then centerpieces will be on them. We'll set up all the other tables and décor the day before.

We are hoping and praying to get the venue the night before. But regardless we have a wedding planner who will be setting things up.

My husband did some work in the morning (hung lights) and my aunts volunteered to oversee the vendor deliveries and put out things like the cardbox etc before the ceremony. If they hadn't offered, we would have hired people or given the items to our coordinator.

I'm having a DOC. This is part of the services of their contract. I'll give them everything at the rehearsal and they will setup while we get ready.

Our venue has a coordinator along with a staff that will be setting up; I have to drop off the decor to them the night of the rehearsal.

Our venue will help with some things, but we are going to try to get into the venue the night before to set up the tables. If not, we will just do it early that morning before heading out to get our hair done. We only have 4-5 tables, though, so it's not as intensive.
