White prom dress as wedding dress

Rachael, on March 10, 2012 at 6:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

Let me start by saying I have my dream dress picked out in my head: A lace-up back with a beaded bodice and pick-up gown.

I was shopping with some friends today and stumbled across this dress at a department store. I was like "Oh my gosh that's exactly what I want my wedding dress to look like!" So they convinced me to try it on. I liked it...no tears or OMG I LOVE IT! But it's exactly what I want for $120!!! versus $700 at a bridal store. My best friend/bridesmaid isn't sold on it. She said she likes the style and the fit but not the ribbon on the top. What do you guys think of the idea?

It's adorable and affordable! but if you don't have that "love it" feeling maybe wait a little longer since you're still a little more than a year out.

I like it....it almost looks exactly like my prom dress, but mine was blue haha. There's nothing about it that isn't "wedding dress" so I think it would be great! However, you need to love it Smiley smile

It's pretty. I would look around though. Wedding dresses are funny. I'd say about 90% of people wonder if they rushed (myself included). So take your time. If you can't stop thinking about it, then go for it.

I went to a wedding recently where the bride got hers at DEB. Looked exactly like this one and fit her perfectly. You can always add a sparkly belt or a broach to add more sparkle to make it more bridal and jewelry will help. I'd go for it considering I've bought 2 dresses lol

I'd get it. Before I found my dress I planned on looking at prom dresses because 3/4 of the ones I saw online/pinterest were prom dresses that I liked better.

Also, worse comes to worst...I'm out $120 *if* I find something I like better. With the way the dress fits now, it wouldn't even need alterations. I have an appointment at David's the 25th...before my belly starts getting big. If I don't find anything I like I'm really considering getting this dress.

If you leave the tags on JCPenney's return is not as bad as what I have heard David's Bridal is.

This dress is beautiful and the price is amazing!! I considered a prom dress too, but couldn't find it in stores to try on. if you really like it, go for it! The one review on the dress is someone who is also using it as a wedding dress!

Jcpenney should return it with the tags on it and the receipt..... Depending on how long tho. YEARS ago i got my prom dress at jcpeenney and i had to exchange it for a different size and i had no problem....e I personally think that whole prom dress idea is genious. I just didnt know any pprom dresses looked that nice.

There is nothing in the "wedding rules" that says your gown has to be labeled as a "wedding gown". My dress was a BM dress from AA with a sweep train. It was perfect for me.

If you like the dress, buy it, keep the receipts on and return it if you find somehting else you like.

I'd get it!!! You can try a crystal sash if you want it to be more sparkly.

If someone wore that as a prom dress I would ask "why are you wearing a wedding dress to prom?"

I think it is very pretty and would be a wonderful wedding dress.

Go for it! If you feel it needs to be dressed up... you can do that with a veil, jewelry, sash... have fun with it.. you have money left over for a beautiful piece of jewelry or other bling.

I say go for it! Like the other women are saying, you can always return if you find something else; and you should get the dress YOU want!

I think if YOU love it then thats what matters! I think it's super cute! Also, you could get it now and if you decide to get a different dress later down the road you can always sell it on ebay! Smiley smile

Def go for it. spend the money somewhere else :-) one of the major tips i found was to avoid anything that said "bridal"
