White gown to someone else's wedding!

LuckyAK, on July 20, 2016 at 3:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 105

The woman in the photo below IS NOT THE BRIDE. She just wore this FLOOR LENGTH WHITE GOWN TO A FRIEND'S WEDDING. Does anyone else find this in ridiculously poor taste ?

A girl did the same at my sister's wedding. She was some random plus one. Made everyone a little uncomfortable. Very distasteful.

I would not be happy if a guest of mine wore that to my wedding... totally unacceptable.

OMG that is so awful! I just don't understand how anyone could do that. (Probably a vengeful ex or just a backstabbing friend)

As OGJaci said...I know many people say they wouldn't care, but it would bother me. I assume the girl in the floor length white gown is the bride. If someone wore that to my wedding, I'd side-eye it (and plaster it on WW later for private shaming!).

I agree! If it weren't a FLOOR LENGTH formal dress, it wouldn't be as offensive, but this is a straight up BITCH ASS MOVE.

(also- if you knew the person, you'd probably assume, as I do, that it was intentional)

Would definitely bother me. I do get the one day, let me have it!!! My FMIL is wanting to wear an all white lace top and a black skirt for the wedding. I am not happy.

    My jaw hit the floor.

Also, please note that this person is in entertainment. She gets to be the center of attention CONSTANTLY and couldn't give it up for ONE DAY.

That's horrible. I would be so upset if someone did that at my wedding! It's not hard to not wear a white gown.

Lololol I would be fucking pissed if someone showed up in that to my wedding. So rude, White is one thing but a floor length white dress is another.

Sounds like you have other issues with this girl rather than her choice of dress.

I really, really wouldn't have given a fuck. My cousin just got married and her bridesmaids were all in white, obviously at her request. No one was confused. Assuming I love the person, they could've shown up in a chicken costume and I'd be happy they were there.

I looked at the photo before reading your post and assumed it was the bride.

Id be one angry girl if that was my wedding.

    Love your faces though op.

I would be pissed because I think people do that intentionally to piss off the bride or show they don't care about rules. No one wears a white dress to a wedding "unknowingly". Floor length for that matter. No.

From my understanding, it's a sign of respect. Now some people are just dumb-dumbs and may throw on a white top, or white pants or something... but a super nice long, white dress? That's disrespectful in my circle. It'd literally be like wearing a sign saying "hey bride, I hate you but let me eat your cake".
