Which dinner Style are you doing?

Yasmine, on August 3, 2020 at 9:48 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 34

Which dinner style are you doing/have done at your wedding? Buffet, Seated, or Family Style and Why?

We are doing a buffet style at ours because the package that we selected gave us many more options for the entrees and sides.

I'm just curious to see if people had a specific reason why they chose a certain style

I was going to do buffet before this all happened. Probably will for my vow renewal

I definitely get it. If Covid is this bad in March I'm not sure if our venue will have us switch it or not. I guess we will see!

Sent before I was done! I think buffets tend to go faster, which gives more time for dancing and socializing. Plated dinners can be long depending on guest to staff ratio. A prompt plated dinner can be expensive to host, so many end up with 2-3 hour plated meals...snore

I didn't even think about how long plated dinners could take (like you said depending on staff to guest ratio)!

I'm doing a plated meal, mainly because our venue layout would make it tough to do a buffet.

We are planning for a buffet, that’s what we signed in our contract. I just emailed our caterer to see if we have to switch to a seated dinner. I really hope we don’t because I don’t want to gave to text/call all our guest and ask if they want chicken or steak!

We picked buffet for the price point and to allow guests multiple choices. But with covid I don’t know what that’s going to look like now...

Yes that sounds like a hassle, my wedding isn't until march and I am hoping we won't have to change our menu either.

I did family style. In my culture family style meals at weddings are common

It would be such a hassle! I would definitely talk to your caterer about a buffet and what safety precautions would be taken because of COVID.

I like family style! It wasn't an option for the packages at our wedding so we chose buffet!

Our venue offers either a plated meal or a buffet. We chose to do a buffet because we thought it would give our guests more options, plus those who want to eat a little more and get a second plate should have that option.

We had stations. I probably would do a plated meal if I was a covid bride.

We're doing buffet as well because my family loves to eat lol. Also because we'll have kids and I wanna make sure they get enough. We got multiple appetizers, 3 entrees, 2 sides and a dessert table.

One of our entrees is chicken and waffles for anyone (mostly kids) who doesn't want or like fish or steak. Who doesn't like chicken and waffles?? Lol

I believe we have 3 entrees, a pasta, 2 sides, and dessert included in our buffet package. I think that would be more than enough and for the price that we are paying, its a really good deal!

We customized ours and we think it's a pretty good price too. I thought it was gonna be well between the 70s and 90s price point. I was ready to back out but when we found out how much it really was, we were like oh, ok. I'm so excited.

We had a seated/plated dinner. We chose this for sanitary reasons (even though we were married pre-covid) also because food just doesn't stay as hot as I like on buffets. Also, a plated dinner just went better with the formality of our wedding.
