Where did you take your rings to be engraved?

antsy, on November 14, 2011 at 1:49 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I bet I could just ask my jewler but I didn't really want to spend a bunch of money on it. How much did it cost you to do this? And where did you take it?

I would like to know the same thing...haven't bought our rings yet, but know I want them engraved...does the jewler do it or do you have to go somewhere else? How much does it usually cost?

I will say that Things Remembered is AMAZING. I have gotten many things engraved there before and they always do a fantastic job...I've never had a bad experience! Don't know if there's a better place to do it for wedding bands though...

    Bump? Any others?

    Thanks Julie Ann

Katie Bug - I thought about Things Remembered but they usually engrave silver right? Did you have any experience with platinum & gold? I don't know much, so I don't know if the type of metal matters.

I found this page with TR's personalization information: http://www.thingsremembered.com/custserv/custserv.jsp?pageName=PersonalizationInfo ...then of course, got distracted looking at their pretty jewelry Smiley smile

Looks like they can engrave rings (regardless of the material)...but most people seem to think TR is more expensive than most places...but like I said, they've always done a fantastic job with my stuff. I personally didn't have any experience with platinum or gold, but I'm sure they do that all the time there...

Thanks Katie Bug, prices don't seem too bad at TR. I'm not planning on putting a whole paragraph on there Smiley smile Maybe I'll price it out with my jewler first. I'll let you know what I end up doing.

BTW, just noticed you're a fellow June Bride! less than 7 months!! EEEEKKKK

I took DH's back to the jewelry store where his ring came from. It cost $50.00

Had it done at BlueNile.com when I ordered it. I think it was only $25. It's usually a good idea to go back to the jeweler where you bought it, so if there is a problem, it will be covered. If you take it somewhere cheap to engrave it and they somehow damage the ring, the jeweler who sold it to you will just tell you you are out of luck.

Good point J&R S. I didn't think about the liability. Even though I have it insured, I still don't want to go through the hassle.

Exactly. Luckily, the store/jeweler you bought it may give you a break. With them it's sort of an extra, instead of a stand-alone service.

And yes, it could be a huge hassle if the engraver said the ring was defective and the jewelry seller said the ring was fine until the engraver damaged it. Then you're caught in the middle. If one jeweler does it all, if anything goes wrong, they're on the hook for it no matter what happened.

Cost us 20 bucks each at the store where we bought the rings. I would have it done at the store where you bought the rings.

Both were done at Kay's where we bought the rings.

That's a good point about the potential problems with taking it somewhere else...I would be so sad if that happened!

Does anyone know if Zales engraves? That's where Jason got my engagement ring, so that's where we we're planning on getting our wedding rings...

@Antsy - exactly 7 months for you Smiley smile Seems soo far away, but yet will come so fast!

Things Remembered has always done a good job engraving whatever I've bought. The prices on their site actually aren't bad. $20 maybe for a sentence.
