Where did you get your Escort/Place cards?

MRSDarlin' Now!, on July 24, 2010 at 9:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I need some help. I thought I had some escort cards but they just aren't large enough.. i got them from a dollar store believe it or not. They just won't do. I am really bad at cutting a straight line so I'm a little afraid to DIY them. I thought maybe about buying the paper online somewhere and just folding them myself (not hard) and printing out labels for them on my home printer. What do you think? What have you guys done? Do you think putting a printed label on the cards is okay or is that tacky or bad?

I really need some solid advice on this ladies... i'm afraid if I dont get some of these last reception details down in the next 2 weeks i wont have time to do them!

    **bump??**

I was on vistaprint.com which I am always buying stuff from... i see that they do folding business cards. That seems to be just what I need...and with vista I can upload my own design or use one of theirs. This is what i came up with on Vista.. but i'm a little leary of using #1 because our theme is B&W damask and Oasis/Teal however our invites ended up being robins egg and ivory damask,Soooo... they dont really tie in anywhere, and theres nothing Ic an do about that now. So maybe # 1 could help tie in the invites.. but the other problem is that there is no way to know if this blue will match the invites..i'm pretty sure it won't.

#2 is much more plain but is black, white and grey which is easier to tie into the theme.

What do ya'll think? It's $29.99 plus S&H for 250. I dont need that many but they dont come in lower qty.

I got mine at Marshall's in the clearance section 40 for a buck and they are the "brides" kind all pink and white. Love them!

The ones you showed pictures of are very pretty. Do you have a Party City or Michaels craft store near you? They both have the plain white kind with a simple pearl border that you can print the names on from your computer, then tear along perforated lines and fold. They are pretty cheap too. That is what I am thinking of doing as I have no faith in my handwriting! Do what makes you happy, but honestly I think the way your escort cards look is the last thing guests will care about or remember at the end of the day, so don't stress too much. Smiley smile

@Nicci: i had gotten some really really plain ones with 2 silver rings and a dove holding them at the dollar store for $1 per 50, i still have them but i hate them. lol.. i just feel like so much work has gone into the wedding, so many personal touches, i hate to just throw that in there and have it look 'undone' yaknow?

@Future Mrs W thats what I thought about doing, but i dont have a kinkos or staples nearby, i just assumed buy them done at that point

@Martha s: I've given zazzle enough of my money for now, lol, thanks for the suggestion though they ahve great designs, but the ones I want are too much and they dont have the exact colors i need.

@Rebecca: Thank you..no party city here but we do have Michaels I'll have to chk them out, i didnt see the ones you can tear on the perforated lines.. that would be perfect and I could just print them myself! I'm really bad with loading hte printer properly and wasted a million labels that way but this sounds like a good idea! TY!

They all sound like great ideas and the images are really nice. Just in case someone isn't sure about this escort cards and place cards are two different items.

Escort cards go on the table outside the reception room and place cards are placed on the table in front of the persons assigned seat.

I assume most of us aren't actually assigning seats at tables, but just wanted to share the difference between the 2. Sorry, for those of you who already knew this, I did not say this to insult anyone's intelligence, just wanted to inform, as I was confused about this originally.

You are welcome Vicki. Wouldn't it be nice if the professionals would tell us that, instead of us having to figure it out for ourselves? Ah, in a perfect world.

I found a best online printing company through the web by recommendation and was happy with them when i bought plastic business cards from them. They just printed what I gave them. I've also recently used a design firm to create new cards for my plan B. Happy to recommend . go here to buy customized cards http://www.printingblue.com/business-cards/plastic-business-cards.asp

If you just want a card to hand out, go cheap, otherwise worth investing a tiny amount in thicker card and maybe a proper design.
