When did you start buying 'things'?!

So our wedding is in October and I am anxious to starting buying ‘things’! How far out did you buy your bridal party/parents gifts, your guest book, reception items (toasting flutes/cake cutting set) and all your other wedding days ‘things’? I’m not sure why I am hesitating, but something is keeping...

I’m not sure why I am hesitating, but something is keeping me from hitting the checkout button!

What things are you guys needing to finalize now? Are you guys doing your own decor?

Our venue does everything so we have to give them colors, themes, etc. at the meeting for pricing then do a follow up to finalize about 30 days out.

That’s how our venue is too! The lady that owns our venue has her own decor company. We did our first meeting around 8 months out and are doing our final meeting next week. I’ve changed my mind about a few small things like centerpieces, but I’m keeping the same theme for the wedding. I would advise to wait on buying the guest book, bridal party gifts, and signs until a little bit closer to the date if you can.

I find that it’s much easier than coming up with one large lump sum of money later when you’re already stressing about everything else. You never know if you’ll have an unexpected expense, so if everything is taken care of before hand you don’t have to worry about not having the wedding you dreamed of. I have almost everything. I just need a few more candle holders , my bridesmaids proposals/gifts, my shoes, jewelry and veil. With just under a year left that’s not much. I want to be as relaxed as possible on my day.

That has to take the stress of you tremendously! That’s what I’m hoping, just little changes after the meeting in a few weeks.

I started as soon as the date was set. My wedding dress I even bought it a year w. a month before. In my case I thought it was better to start buying stuff little by little and not let it all pilled up around the same time.

    Hello congratulations on everything!
I'm getting married in 2021 and have already started buying thing that I KNOW I won't change my mind on. I think now is a good time to start on things that may be on sale for the season of your wedding and just small things that you can definitely get out the way. You don't want to be overwhelmed or doing things at last min.. good luck with everything!!💕

We've been buying stuff (or rather I have haha!) since last summer. We are getting married on Halloween this year and I knew I wanted specific pieces from last year's halloween. I've also purchased A LOT on etsy that's not here in the US so I knew I needed to give time for shipping.

I'm getting married next May. We got engaged this past New Year's Eve and I bought my first thing the next day - a cake topper on Etsy that I'd had my eye on for a long time.

We have a tight budget so we’re buying a little at a time so that we don’t have to make a big purchase all at once.

We have to be mindful of our budget, so I'm trying to buy things early or get prices early. My centerpieces ended up being about 25 dollars each.

However they do take up room, so keep that in mind.

Start! I’m getting married 10/24/2020 and I purchased so many of the things needed, however I didn’t engrave. That I’ll start doing next month. Things Remembered had a great sale on my flute glasses and server set 70%. LOVE them and I believe I paid less than $120 for everything. Sales are going on everywhere. Wedding season is in a few months and pricing is going to go up. I have DIY projects and JoAnn fabrics had 60% off . Have fun and enjoy the journey! When did you start buying 'things'?! 1

Hi Samantha that is exactly what we’re doing the buying therefore it’s not a huge dent all at once. I’m detail oriented so there’s more things and elements I get so we have to start early. there’s nothing wrong in doing that just make sure what you’re getting is exactly what you want to do
