What's your unique guestbook?

Danielle, on March 16, 2013 at 4:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 73

What are you doing for your guest book? How much is it costing you? Why did you pick that option? How are you displaying it?

I REALLy want a photobooth guest book but I feel it would not be good for my wedding, which is outside, in the evening/night. I'm on a budget too. So... I'm exploring other options.

We had guests sign Christmas ornaments at our December wedding. We had them in our centerpieces so they served a dual purpose. We put them up on our Christmas tree the day after the wedding, so it was a nice way to display it. We got 2 big containers of ornaments from Hobby Lobby for $20 each, so $40, $15 for some silver Sharpies.

We also had a photo booth, a DIY one not for guest book purposes, that only cost about $150.

I'm not sure it's unique, but I think I'll make a photo book of our pictures so that our guests can write little love notes to us in it, then it can become a coffee table book. It shouldn't cost more than $20 or $30, and it'll be on the side table when the guests come in, next to some flowers.

If you want a photo booth but can't afford to rent one, you can apparently make your own in a corner of your venue using an iPad, a backdrop of some sort and fun props. I've seen that on Pinterest a lot Smiley smile

Since our wedding is rainbow, I made a crayon melt in the order of the rainbow. I did it on a canvas and have fine tipped sharpies in all the colors for our guests to sign. I am going to frame it and hang it in our bedroom.

We're having guests sign Jenga pieces and out them back into a bowl. Jenga is my families favorite tradition & FH & my favorite game. All we have to buy is the game and some pens.

We are doing an engravable mat frame with our pucture in it..our guest can sign it and leave a message... I think it starts $99 and adds up depending on what you get.. It's a lil pricey but its real nice.. It's not as unique as the others but different than the actual regular guest book.

We're having wine bottles as our "guest book". We are huge wine drinkers so we will buy 5 bottles of our favourite wines and label them for our 1 year, 5 year, 10, 15 and 20th anniversaries. We will use a special pen and guests can sign the bottles. Then when we open each bottle on the subsequent anniversary we will read the messages, watch our wedding video and reminisce!

@Tonya - the wine bottle idea is very cool. I've never heard of that before!

Our "guestbook" will be a puzzle, where the guests sign the pieces (they are very large pieces) and add them to the frame that is already put together. I added some e-photos to some of the pieces so that it isn't just a blank puzzle to start.

We are doing something similar to Tonys. We are having empty wine bottles marked with 1, 5, 10, etc and having guests drop us notes, well wishes, etc to be opened on that anniversary. Cost to us? About $10 cuz the wine bottles were free, we needed some archival safe ink pens and scraps of cream paper.

    KristnB and Michelle C.

I love both of those ideas a lot! Can you give more information on where you are buying/bough things from?

The wine idea is cute too! We don't drink wine though... maybe some vodka bottles? haha

We are doing the photo frame. We'll put epics in it for the reception, but once we get our wedding pics back we will change out the big heart for a wedding pic and leave the two small hearts with epics. guests will sign all around it.

@the future Mrs. S and Danielle E. - I bought the puzzle from this site:

    http://store.training-wheels.com/copuforwe.html

It looks like they raised the prices since I bought it (I had got the 100 piece puzzle for $39.99, but for 100 guests you really don't need 100 large pieces, since most couples will sign a piece together. It came in the white box shown on the site with a cute little bowSmiley smile

I printed the photos on white vellum, used an x-acto knife to cut out around the puzzle piece, then used double sided tape to tape the photos on. My mom came over and she taped while I cut.

@KristnB we're doing the same thing. I was wondering if it could count as unique as well.

We have a nice 12x12 photo book from shutterfly.com with e-pics and that way we'll have a photo book of our favorite e-pics and well wishes and all that from our guests.

I'm hopefully having my uncle, who's an artist, paint a picture for us, either if my flowers or a skeleton key because thats our favor, and the guests are going to sign it. Then we can hang up in our home after the wedding.
