What's the most expensive item on your registry?

JPCD, on June 5, 2017 at 11:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 83

Hi all !

As I'm casually adding to our registry, I realized I REALLY want a luggage set. I have the same suitcase I had since college and the handle is broken. The wheels on my carry one are falling apart. There are stains. Etc. Needless to say, I fell in love with a Samsonite set on BBB.... only problem is that it's about $470. Is that ridiculous to add?

Also, for luggage sets do you share that with your husband, or do you each get your own set?

Thanks in advance!!

The most expensive thing is a bed set from BBB. It's $399.

I registered for one set of luggage and I figured we'd share it. Mine is only 179 tho. The most expensive thing I have on mine so far is our vacuum.

As long as you have other stuff at varying price points, it's fine. I had a $375 comforter and my boss and his wife purchased that for us along with an expensive sheet set.

We registered for luggage but to make it more affordable registered for 4 separate pieces (2 for me, 2 for him). We have gone on several trips together and have not had luggage sets. The most expensive thing so far is our food processor ($99). But we have a small registry and really just hoping for cash.

I'm using a universal registry (Blueprint) so it can handle group gifting. I've found that handy with weddings I've been to.

We're too far out to register, but we both want to register for a nice set of patio furniture, which I'm sure will be the priciest thing on there. Hopefully we end up registering at a place that offers a completion discount!

Oh, and we share a luggage set, but I'm a minimalist and don't take up much space in it.

A tent actually lol! We want to do some camping but tents big enough for our family are ridiculously expensive. I don't think anyone will buy one but it's on there lol

The most expensive thing on ours is a $200 food processor attachment for a Kitchen Aid mixer.

If I were you, I would register for the luggage pieces separately if possible. You are much more likely to have two guests each buy you $250 in luggage than one guest spending $500. And if someone wants to spend that much, they can buy both items. That's what we did for a set of knives we want. The whole thing together would be about $750, but people can get us an individual knife for anywhere from $20-$80.

ETA: Oh, and we each have our own set of luggage. Sometimes we will pack together into one, and sometimes we each take our own bags. And sometimes we are both traveling for work at the same time but to different destinations.

MarchBride- how many of you are there? Do all of you need to be in one tent? 6-7 person Coleman tents are fine for "car camping" (not backpacking) and inexpensive. They're also super easy setup/ takedown. Anyway, I started a registry with Amazon when our date was in March. I'm asking for sheets, towels, dishes, knives, and other miscellaneous kitchen things. Smiley smile Happy Camping!

I believe ours was $200. But we had lots of inexpensive things so I figured it would be ok. (No one purchased the $200 gift, though).

    Thanks everyone !!

@st Paul. I was considering that too. It's a great idea. Also because the set has 3 pieces, and I think I may only need the carry on and then a larger piece.

Thanks! Yeh I have other pretty expensive stuff on there too. Like a Ninja Blender and Ninja Coffee bar. But we also have things like an ice cream scoop or Tupperware set.

I just talked to FH and I do think he wants his own as well. So I'll have to do some research on great luggage separates.

If any of you have recommendations for luggage I'm all ears ! (Eyes)

We registered for a kitchen aid mixer.. Never thinking someone would actually buy it for us, but we got it!!! $499. Don't be afraid to put some higher ticket items on there, just don't put too many.

See if you can make it a group gift or some websites let people just add money to it so they may pay 80% and you just have to cover 20% after the registry is over
