What's everyone's pick for their father/daughter song?

Debra, on March 3, 2010 at 4:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 38

Hello to all my beautiful brides out there! I'm trying to choose a very sweet but not so played out song to dance with my Dad to. My number one choice right now is "I loved her first" by Heartland...any other suggestions??

I like 'Time in a Bottle", "If you could read my mind" or something folky like that. My dad loves folk and bluegrass, I grew up listening to him playing it and I think it'd be great for us to dance to a song he used to play.

I used Sinatra's "the way you look tonight"

my cousin used "I danced with cinderella", and I thought that was really cute.

We've had many requests for "I Loved Her First." Used to be, a few years ago, the big song was "Butterfly kisses."

If you want something a little more upbeat, there's always "My Girl"

My really talented friend who's doing my ceremony music, as well, wrote a song about a father giving away his daughter to her husband for my wedding. I can't wait. I love her music.

I can't decide between John Mayer's "Daughters" and Loudon Wainwright's "Daughter". What do you think?

@luckyones, I LOVE both... I like Loudon's version better (LOVE the feel of the song!) because it's not as overplayed as John Mayer's...

Loudon's song was on (and I guess still is) my top three father/daughter songs. It makes me think of Knocked Up because it's the last song they play in the movie but I still love it!!!
