What time do you, personally, eat dinner?

Elizabeth, on September 23, 2016 at 1:36 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 35

Our wedding is planned to be at 7pm. Should we were a meal or snack and finger foods along with cake and sweets?

Your dinner is planned for 7 or your ceremony is?

You need to serve a meal. If your ceremony is at 7, then it will be over around 7:30. Are your ceremony and reception at the same place? If it is, you can move right into dinner, if not, then have a cocktail hour from 7:30 to 8:00 and serve dinner at 8:00.

I usually eat around 6-7 so yeah, I'd be expecting a full meal.

If your wedding takes place at 7 then you need to serve a full meal. Even if all of your guests normally eat at 6 or early (but I can guarantee that not everyone does), this is still in the realm of "dinner time" and dinner will be expected. Feed your guests. A full meal.

I usually eat between 6-7... so that's dinner time, and I'd be expecting dinner.

My wedding is at 7 and we are serving a meal because even if someone people do eat early I know that a lot of them won't.

Definitely a full meal. If the ceremony starts at 7, you can't expect that your guests would have eaten dinner between traveling, getting ready, etc., so you need to feed them afterwards. If the reception starts at 7 people definitely wouldn't have eaten before the ceremony, so you still need to feed them.

I think the rule of thumb is anything after 5pm, you are considered dinner time, and should serve a meal.

We eat between 7 and 8. But if your reception is anywhere between 5pm and 9pm, you need to serve dinner.

The earliest I can get home during the week is 6:30pm, so we normally eat around 8pm!
