What kind of wedding can I have on a 15 - 20,000 budget

Mrs. Taylor, on June 20, 2016 at 8:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 32

Hello ladies... me and my fiancè are planning our wedding... and we have set the budget to be at the most all expenses paid to 20,000... i was wondering if you ladies that are farther along in your planning process could give me some tips and tricks on what I can and should do so that I keep my budget goal... i was also wondering what does a 20,000 wedding look like... is it even possible to have a wedding with that size of a budget where I can get everything I want and it not look cheap??? Thanks again

You can 100% do this, but It really depends on your location and how many guests you plan on having.

It totally depends on where you are and how many guests.

In some parts, that would be about average while in some metro areas, they'll laugh you right out of the venue with that number unless your guest list is under 50.

Get an educated guesstimate as to how many guests you'd like to invite and start your research from there.

    And congrats!

Depends on how many guests you're having and what you really want. My budget is half of yours and i'm managing, so i'm sure you can do it.

There is a budgeting tool on here thats pretty decent to help you start. Really it all depends on your location. FH and I are throwing a 100 person wedding at a ballroom with half that but Im in a cheaper part of the midwest. I know ladies and gentlemen on here with the same budget as me only able to host half as many guests. It really depends on your location, guest list, venue style, catering and bar package.

Most likely depending on your desired amount of guests and area of the wedding you can have a wonderful wedding for a 20k budget!

The biggest expenses are typically catering, venue & professionals.

The smaller the wedding the more you'll be able to budget to other areas. Example of catering is 80 per person and you invite 200 guests that's 16k on food alone. But if you have 100 guests it's 8k and you've got a good budget to work with to get all the other stuff you'd like!

I'd start researching venues and caterers in your area before sending out any save the dates or invites.

Depending on how many people you invite, you can have a very nice wedding for that much. How many guests do you plan on? Where are you located?

It depends where you are! In my area, you can have a beautiful, elegant wedding for about 75-100 people for that budget.

All depends on location and number of guests. But if you set your expectations to be realistic given that info, you can certainly do it!

In Cumberland county, you should be able to find something affordable to host 100 people, as long as you don't go over into Cape May. Good news is, you got the first steps done in figuring out your budget and approx # of guests! You can start researching venues/getting price estimates. It is definitely possible!

This is our budget roughly and we have 60-70 guests. However alcohol in Ontario Canada is stupid expensive. Your budget (depending on your area) can definitely be a swanky event.

I'm going to have 100 guests, church ceremony seated dinner open bar and be under 15K. Depending on your location and guest count you can totally do this!

Yes you can do it! Our guest list including the wedding party is 150 and the total cost will be about 20k. I think one of the ways to make sure you can make this happen is find a venue who does the catering as well. Our venue includes it and it's about 11k. I think the hard part ( for us anyway) is like the flowers, the quotes we've received are about 2,000 and up.

But I will agree with everyone else, the lower you keep your guest list the more you'll have to spend on other things, because food and alcohol is expensive.

That site will let you know given your location and amount of guests how much people spend for an average wedding. It will also give a breakdown of where all that money went. This will give you an idea if you can feel comfortable splurging for the nicer things or if you have to keep yourself in check and look for budgeting tricks.

A lot of this depends on your location and guest list. Im not familiar with your area, so I suggest start playing around with the budgeting app to help you "chunk" your money and start getting into the details of how your money will be spent. As the PPs said, if you run into trouble, cutting the guest list will help tremendously.
