What kind of robes did you get?

Eri, on December 10, 2019 at 11:08 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 23

So in the hustle and bustle of Black Friday/Cyber Monday, I scooped up some satin robes from Etsy that were on sale. This was clearly a mistake, as I didn't think through the wrinkles or slippery nature of satin. There's also several pulls and running threads and I'm just not feeling great about these overall - but what can you expect for $5 each with no returns?

Now I'm more thoughtfully considering cotton or jersey material, and have stumbled upon the cotton waffle style. If you did cotton/waffle, I'd love to see your pictures!

(I'm planning on doing simple navy robes, FYI - no monograms or things that say 'bridesmaid' as I'd like the girls to be able to reuse these for everyday wear.)

I ordered a silk robe for myself and like you I'm not liking it so I know I won't order them for my girls. I thought about getting t shirts made and wearing nice pajama bottoms. IDK yet.

I did a simple cotton robe with lining for my girls. The etsy shop we ordered from also had an option for extra length which was helpful for those who wanted more coverage.

I don’t think I’ll be doing robes or anything, but just from experience, I think the jersey robes are more flattering and hold up better over many washes (the material still feels nice and soft). I was gifted a jersey robe and absolutely love it!

I ordered simple silky robes for myself and my girls. I'm not the biggest fan of silk but I figure it will work for the short amount of time they will be wearing them

I had 9 bridesmaids and gave them a choice between a cotton waffle print robe, a strapless short romper, or a long PJ button down shirt. 1 girl picked a romper, 3 picked the robe, and the rest picked the long PJ shirt. Each cost around $25-$30 and all were black & had 1 initial. I wore a silk robe from VS that said "bride" that my mom got me at my shower. What kind of robes did you get? 3

I got satin robes from Etsy, but since you don't like them then you wouldn't like the ones I got.

I actually looked at their site yesterday, but pretty much all of the reviews that were posted were terrible. Smiley sad

That's a good idea too! I considered PJs, but since we're not getting ready at a hotel, I thought robes might be a little easier to work with.

Maybe if these were silk or higher quality satin, I'd be okay with it, but I didn't even want to wear the white one I got myself after trying it on lol. Glad yours will work for you!

They definitely look nice on other people, I'm just not feeling the particular ones I got and realized I wanted something a little different.

Satin is popular for a reason though, and they look great in all the getting ready photos I've seen. Smiley smile
