So those who don't know, I have had issues getting to my dress fitting, then finally making it but had a horrible dress fitting experience. I originally had my mind set on Mori Lee, then that soon changed to Val Stefani, but now I am in love with Lazarro! The qowns are beautiful and expensive. I am new to this so my budget had to be adjusted a few times in order to get the dress that I want. I now have a budget of $3000...Is that crazy?

I spent $86 on mine, lol... It worked. I don't regret a thing. Now it's taking up a ton of room in my closet. Can't wait to trash it later this year!!! :-)

Christie...your dress looks MUCH better on you than on the model. I wouldn't have ever tried mine on either seeing it on the model...it looked horrible on the model.

My budget was set at $1500...this was to include a rush (seeing as I had 5 months from the time I got engaged to the time of our wedding date) and alterations. Because I purchased the sample gown, I got a $3800 gown for $1300 .... after alterations, I hit the $1500 exactly. I think I got such a discount b/c it was an older dress...but I'm not 100% sure.

My budget was $1200 but ended up loving a Mori Lee for $682 (no sales tax on clothes in MN!).

My dress budget was $500 but found "The Dress" and ended up spending $650. Same goes with shoes: I was like "who in their right mind would pay $50+ for a pair of shoes they will probably only wear once". Found a pair that looked cute decided to try them on for fun and loved them so much I didn't want to take them off (so I got them). Ended up making a couple cut backs in other areas but all has worked out so far.

I don't think anyone should be criticized for what they spend on a dress, or a cake, or flowers, or their bling or anything. We all have different budgets and things in mind we "can't live without" for our weddings. That being said, how much you spend on your dress shouldn't matter as long as you are happy. Why should we be upset about what you spent? We aren't paying for it, you are (or it was an awesome gift to you or whatever)!

That being said, I spent $260 on my dress, and alterations were $125. I didn't even pay for it, my mom did (because she is amazing and she wanted to). When I went to find my dress, the consultant asked me what I wanted to spend and I told her nothing over $250. I got the Alfred Angelo dress I wanted that fit like a glove and only have to have a bustle and hemming done. I couldn't be happier.

My mom and I watch "Say Yes to the Dress" all the time. I love the marathons they run of that show. My mom even joked about having Monte come and help me find my dress! I would have loved to go to Klienfelts and find my dress, but that wasn't in the budget!

It isn't how much you spend, it is how happy you are and if you can afford it. My dress was originally over $600, it was from the previous season so it was heavily discounted. And my DH still talks about how much he loved my dress, which makes my dress decision even more worth it!

Name brands aren't everything and neither is the price. A $99 dress can look just as beautiful as a $1000 dress, IMO.

My budget was $200.00, spent $165.00 on my dress and I love it! I decided to spend less on a dress I would wear one time and save the money for the trip instead! If you want to spend your money on a dress then do it...it's your money and your life. What some of us think is crazy is completely normal to others =)

I didn't want to spend more than $500 on a dress, I came in at $375 and after I'm done spicing it up, it'll look like a million bucks Smiley winking. As for my overall budget, if it would have been up to me, I would've gotten married in a courthouse and treated all of my loved ones to dinner and spent that $9-10,000 towards something else but FH wasn't having it so I figured if we're going to do the whole shibang, we might as well do it right Smiley smile

I set a budget for $1000 (alterations included), I knew that finding a dress to my liking would be difficult since I am a full-figured. But after a few word of mouths, I not only found a dress but I would be under budget for the dress plus alterations. But a bride knows what she wants and you only live once so whay not go after what you want, I just know I am not a celebrity ande don't get paid like one so I have to live within my means.

Kleinfields here I come! My appointment is on 8/19/12. YAY!! Can't wait. I will be trying to find the "one" that makes me feel like a million bucks, that makes me have to do a double take in the mirror and say "Is that me?" I want to LOVE my gown...not like it

I have no "dress budget" - I am going to be wearing a hand-me-down dress and only paying to have it tailored to me. Smiley smile
