So those who don't know, I have had issues getting to my dress fitting, then finally making it but had a horrible dress fitting experience. I originally had my mind set on Mori Lee, then that soon changed to Val Stefani, but now I am in love with Lazarro! The qowns are beautiful and expensive. I am new to this so my budget had to be adjusted a few times in order to get the dress that I want. I now have a budget of $3000...Is that crazy?

If she has the money and that is what she chooses to spend it on, who are we to judge?

That being said, I am spending about $700 on my gown that I am having custom made. And I'm only spending that much because it is something I will get lots of wear out of (as long as I don't gain a ton of weight!) It is about 15% of our budget.

I didn't want to spend more then $500 on a dress I will only wear one day. The dress I fell in love with was $1250. I tried it on and loved how it looked on me. So I got online and found a company that would make the dress for me. The dress cost me $350. And I love it!! I like it better then the $1250 dress!!

The Lazarro gowns appear to be well over $4000! Some are even going as high as $10,000. My wedding budget right now is $30,000.I just don't know if I will be able to find a dress that I love without paying a high price for it.

I don't think it's fair to call someone nuts b/c of how they choose to structure their budget. That sounds really judgy to me.

Now, if you spend $3000 on a dress but you have a cash bar and you feed your guests cheese and crackers, then I would side-eye and call you nuts. But if you treat your guests well and you have the money to splurge on a dress or something else that's important to you, who cares?

When you're making your choice I would just be very honest with yourself about whether or not you can truly afford it, and then think of other things that cost that amount. Like, a nice vacation later in the year. Or, appliance upgrades in your kitchen. Or a downpayment on a new car. Or the ability for you and H to take an extra couple weeks off of work to have downtime after the wedding. Is the dress more important than those things? Some people will truly say yes. If that's you, then go for it and don't look back.

My wedding budget is $1000 and I tried to find stick to $100 budget. I looked and looked online and found a dress I LOVE on clearance at DB for $130. It is simple and so me! It looks beautiful on me and at 49 and on the plus-size I need all the help I can get! :0).

I agree with Serenity! If it's within your budget and you have it then go for it! If the bride wants to wear a gorgeous gown for a day and wants to spend $3000 on it, and she has it then by all mean go for it.

I spent $1700 on mine w/ Alterations and I absolutly love it. I wouldn't change anything about it or my experience getting it! It's been wonderful!

My budget was $600.00. I paid $541.00 for a dress that was originally $850.00. Not too shabby...

My budget was $200.00. I knew it was possible and I bought my dress for less than an eighth of that. Its a MoriLee, got it from a thrift store. It needed no alterations as it fit me like a glove. I just added a sash. With my budget I knew I wouldn't be getting a Lazarro or a Vera Wang, lol, but you definately can. Check out trunk shows and dresses from last season, good luck.

I agree with Krisalicious 100%. Who are we to judge how much ANY bride spends on ANY part of her wedding? Its an important day to each and every one of us, and some brides will be spending much more or much less than other brides on here. Personally, the dress is a MAJOR part of the day for me. In all honesty, other than dreaming about the man at the end of the aisle, I have been dreaming of my dress since I was a child. Knowing that, I reserved a heafty chunk of my budget for my dress. I am not scrimping and screwing my guests over because of it, but I have dialed back my everyday spending to be able to afford it. I spent $3800 on my dress and veil before the $550 I spent on alterations. You can think I'm "crazy, bonkers, nuts, out of my mind" but keep those thoughts to yourself. THIS IS A POSITIVE PLACE FOR BRIDES TO COME AND SHARE THE JOYS, SORROWS, FRUSTRATIONS AND EVERYTHING ELSE TO DO WITH PLANNING A WEDDING WITH OTHER BRIDES.

Lets not get judgy and b*tchy Smiley smile

I agree Christie, there's a difference in voicing your opinion and judging others. I think that your dress was incredibly expensive, but would I have gotten one if I could have afforded it, HELL YES. ;')

My budget was $2000 for the dress not including alterations, veil, etc. My dress ended up being $1200.

3k for a dress is not too crazy as long as you aren't skimping on your wedding to pay for the dress.

My original budget was $1000, but it ended up being a little less than $1200 (no alterations). That seems like quite a chunk considering our entire budget was $5700, but it worked out. (My uncle is a high-end caterer so he did our food at cost, so it wasn't dress over guest experience).

Kris!! Stop judging me! We had a cash bar, it's a million percent normal in our region (actually, I didn't even know till afterwards, but the ONE drink I had at the wedding, one of our guests actually bought for me). We also had cheese and crackers (fancy pants cheese and crackers...). But there was other food as well.

I would like to say my budget is $1200, and I honestly think I can find a dress I love for that pice (I haven't been to any places yet, just online) BUT if I found a dress I LOVED, and had to have, and it was over budget I would probably increase my budget to $1500

Let me find it, I have my photo but I don't think the photo on the website does the dress any justice. I did get my dress at a 10% discount because I purchased during a trunk show. Its a Victoria Nicole dress. I'll update my post with the link to the dress once I can find it!

Update: Unfortunately, the model number is not on the Victoria Nicole website. Here are the model photos of the dress (( I hate it on her! If I had seen it online before seeing it in person, I probably would not have even tried it on ))

I refuse to pay over 500 for my dress. I dont even want to spend that! lol I ideally would like to spend between 200-300. I just dont see the point in spending all this money on a dress I will only wear for 4-5 hours and never wear again.
