what is the difference???

Mrs. Wise, on November 12, 2012 at 6:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

Is there a distinct different between tulle and organza? I've been finding organza for so much cheaper and it looks exactly like tulle. I want to use it as drapery for the ceiling of the tent . what do you suggest?

Tulle is more of a netting. Organza is sheer, but is more tightly weaved. Tulle drapes better for what you're wanting. Unless Organza is real silk, it tends to be stiffer.

Illusion is another. Tulle comes in many different types. Some very stiff some softer.

Tulle is stiff. It works well for some thing. See Pic one.

Organza is softer so flows better, imho. See Pic two

Depends on the kind of organza or tulle you get.

Unless they have a good return policy, I wouldn't order it online unless you are certain what you want. Either will work though. It's just what is the look you are going for. Can you call them?

I'm not the biggest fan of tulle, for decoration, but I wouldn't order it online I would go to JoAnne's or any craft store and order it. So you can be 100% sure what you are getting. What are you doing with it?

and the only reason I am not the biggest fan is because I have gotten cheap stuff and it hasn't held up right... so if you are going with tulle make sure it is durable. Smiley smile

Organza doesn't usually drape well. The best material for ceiling draping is probably sheer voile, but is a bit more pricey. I am doing a DIY ceiling draping in our tent and I got voile.

A coworker of mine has ordered from tulleshop and had great experience. I ordered 50yrds of tulle (in a bolt) and it was actually in pieces. It worked for what we needed it for, but wouldn't work for ceiling draping because of the pieces, and the fact that there were a few holes in it.

It is possible to drape with tulle... just ask the professionals at the store... he is tulle from a wedding I attended they draped it from the ceilings down the walls.

I can't remember where we are getting the voile (my mom is actually buying it.) I think events direct or something like that. It is the same material sheer curtains are made out of.

Like Samantha said, organza can be really nice with draping, but you can't get the cheapo stuff because it is super stiff. You need to get the silk organza.
