What did you put in your welcome bag?

HereComeTheYorks, on November 6, 2015 at 5:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

I am starting to think about Welcome bags and wanted to see what others have done in the past. Anything you would like to see in a welcome bag?

So far my list is: welcome bag, ibuprofen, emergen-c, water, chips, chocolate, sunscreen, info about the wedding/things to do in the area.

Any advice or where you got your supplies is more than welcome! Smiley smile

Post Pictures if you have them!

Following... unsure if I want to do welcome bags. My FH and I are getting married in the city I grew up in, but we currently live a few hours away. His family will be traveling the few hours, but am wondering if I need welcome bags for that. They are familiar with the area, etc. Is there something that is special about your area or state? For example, my friend put Whataburger ketchup in her welcome bags for people from out of state. ....It's a Texas thing.

That's a great list. I purchased most of my stuff from Amazon. I had shout wipes, chips, cookies, gum, ibuprofen, day of time line (just letting people know the times the shuttle would come), directions to venue and bottles of water.

My favorite things I've seen in gift bags are something personal to the couple or local to the area! It really personalizes the bag. FH and I are both hot sauce obsessed, so we've thought about mini bottles of hot sauce with a personalized sticker on them.

A friend of mine got married in Birmingham and included one of these cookies in every welcome bag, so adorable! It's in the shape of Alabama with a heart over Birmingham:

There was another post about this earlier in the day. On mobile so can't paste the link. There were some great suggestions given there.

Following too, still on the fence about welcome bags. As a PSA I would stay away from nuts or peanut butter things. At a friends wedding there were mixed nuts in the welcome bag and one of the BM's had a son that was extremely allergic to peanuts. (The Bride didn't put them together, her FAIL(future aunt in law) did and didn't know about the allergies.) Either way good to avoid.

HAHA FAIL sorry that was a funny acronym

@Lynnie our personalized piece I think will be adding mini york peppermint patties to the bag as the chocolate! Smiley smile

I almost forgot I wanted to add hair ties for the ladies!

I don't know if we'll do welcome bags, but if we do, we're going to make them stockings (Christmas wedding) with stocking stuffer-sized goodies from the town and state where we're having the wedding and a few things that are significant to us. The other thing we're planning to add in is lift tickets and a ski lesson since we'll be in the mountains.

This (and the bathroom baskets) are the only things I'm letting my mom take care of, so it'll be a surprise to me lol.

Ours included: visitors guide, weekend itinerary & our personal recommendations, a postcard, locally made lip balm (personalized with our names and wedding date), advil, pepto, mints, bottle of water, can of cheerwine, mini bottle of booze (maker's mark for most of them, a few got vodka though), and small bag of cheez-its.

Water! My MIL printed labels (I think for free) and put them on.

    I second gum or mints.

I made door hangers for the guests at our venue (about 30 or so), plus I plan on making a hangover kit similar to your welcome kit (when I saw the post I was like WHHAAAAA there's 'welcome kits' too?! relieved it's the same thing essentially!) - I'm putting in pepto bismal tablets, advil, electrolyte packages, sunglasses, a bottle of water and tic tacs, and definitely like Staci's idea of putting labels on the water bottles - instead of paying a lot for little canvas bags that say 'hangover kit' on them. FYI ebay & aliexpress are amazing!

Alrighty.. I was looking for my "list" of things that will be in the wedding bag. I have enough of everything to make 50 bags worth.. Now it looks like I won't need that many... Guess I'll be giving some people two..

    so:

    -the welcome letter/brochure (it will have just a welcome message from us and local things to do, as well as the addresses for the venues and directions);

    -important phone number list (credit card size and laminated so it can go in a wallet) - MOH/BM numbers, hotel numbers, and taxi numbers;

    -door hanger

-visitor guide book (free - you can get them at hotels and the visitor center, so we will just pick some up in January and put one in each bag)

    -tissues (kleenex slim pack)

    -hand sanitizer

    -chapstick

    -travel-sized advil

    -travel pepto bismal

    -Ricola honey lemon cough drops

    -mini lint roller

    -band aids

-snowflake wine stopper (goes with our favors that will be at the reception)

-mini water bottle (with personal labels)

-possibly those Annie's bunny snack bag (or just regular chip bag)

-popcorn from Gatlyn's (local place recommend by VMD) --- REALLY GOOD!

-gum (they are packs of 18) -- it's either Trident or Orbit

-chocolate covered coffee beans (OMA) -- from Colombia, where my whole side of the family is from

-maybe a packet of Lance crackers and a can of cheerwine (just to add some NC to the bags)

ETA: Oh and we will close them with this little snowflake ornament (it fits with our theme).

Our wedding was in Charleston, so we kept that as a theme for the bags. I got stickers printed saying "Welcome to Charleston, Home of Sweet Tea and Southern Hospitality" and I used that and ribbon to decorate the gable boxes. They included: Charleston visitor guide (free from most city visitor centers), charleston chew candy bar, firefly sweet tea vodka minis, benne seed wafers, water bottle, a weekend itinerary and (outside) a palmetto rose.

We did water for the minors, a local beer for the 21+ guests, advil, a list of things to do in Omaha, a "Do not disturb" sign, and assorted candy, chips and other snacks.
