What are you using for ceremony songs?

Danielle, on September 26, 2009 at 12:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I'm needing help. I just can't find the right songs for the ceremony events. Parents walking in, bridesmaids walking in, an extra song for the ceremony and a fun song for us walking out. Can you post what you are using for your ceremony? I'm looking for something nontraditional...fun and contemporary.

My ceremony and reception are both going to be outside next to a lake. It has a very laid back vibe-- more like a very nice picnic. I'm using "Somewhere over the rainbow/what a wonderful world" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Here is a link to the song. I love it.

    The song is 4:43mins.

My parents won't be there and his parents said they will just be seated with the rest, but up front, it is just me, moh and fg so we all are walking to Prelude to Te Deum and our recessional is Ode to Joy, nothing fancy, just a nice simple ceremony Smiley smile

I always suggest our brides to look into Yiruma and Vitamin String Quartet. Also, think outside the box! (I LOVE the list Albert and Susie posted! LOVE the Love Story meets Viva La Vida by Jon Schimdt!!! He was my hubby's piano teacher and dated my sister in law!) It doesn't HAVE to be instrumental! YOu can do ANYTHING you like! There are really no rules anymore! My favorite recessional is "Ever Ever After" by Carrie Underwood, and "Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours" by Stevie Wonder.

Bridal party processional: "Storybook Love" from The Princess Bride

Bridal entrance music: "Buon Giorno, Principessa!" from Life is Beautiful

Recessional: "You're Just Too Good to be True" by Frankie Valli

Also, a friend of mine used the acoustic "Hey Ya" song as her recessional, which was super cute! Hope that helps!

Our parents were seated to You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban, the girls and I walked into Canon in D, Unity Sand was Butterfly Waltz, and we walked out to something called In Classic Style or something. We wanted to walk out to the Linus and Lucy theme but his mom would not have appreciated that probably Smiley smile Lol.

We actually just decided on this last night (have a meeting with the DJ tonight)!

Grandparents/parents seating: I Will (The Beatles)

Processional: God Only Knows (The Beach Boys)

Recessional: Everybody (Sister Hazel) (Very fun & cute!)

I say pick songs that you and your FH love and make sense in your world. These days with these things the only limitations are the ones you put on yourself! Good luck!

I'm walking up to "Smiling Underneath" by Ani Defranco. Our whole wedding is sorta 'clockwork/steampunk' so its pretty applicable... and she rocks!

You can really have fun with the recessional. In addition to some of the great ideas listed above, I've used

-- Beatles "All You Need Is Love"

    -- U2 "Beautiful Day"

-- Stevie Wonder "Signed Sealed and Delivered"

    -- Turtles "Happy Together"

    -- Beyonce & Jay-Z "Crazy in Love"

-- Monkees "I'm a Believer" (also covered by Smash Mouth)

-- Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose "Too Late to Turn Back Now"

Me: This is the day by an artist Rome who is so hard to find but I thinkl that is the perfect wedding song. My cousin is singing it

Recessional: the verve Bittersweet symphony instrumental. it is going to start at the end when he says kiss the bride because it starts soft and then picks up the tempo.
