What are you Diying?

Elizabeth, on September 19, 2019 at 3:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13
Hi everyone,
I am getting married May 2nd 2020. We have a tight budget so we are trying to DIY as much as possible! I am making the jewelry and hair pieces for my bridal party, I am sewing ready robes for all of us (I was even able to get enough material to make them all for under $20), we are doing all the flowers ourselves (Costco bulk flowers), we are NOT doing save the dates and are making our own invites, we decided to go with thank you buttermints on the tables instead of "favors", our venue has what we call the treasure chest it is a room full of different decorations that we get to use so little to no decorating cost. I'm trying to think of other places we can save money by DIYing if any of you have any recommendations or ideas please share!

I'm making my own bouquets and boutonnieres. We're also doing all the decor and backdrop ourselves, but it's a very small wedding. The music is just a playlist I'm putting together. I almost DIYed my veil but I found one at a really good deal.

It’s a small wedding but we’re doing all the decor, some of my accessories and our dessert table ourselves. If you’re confident enough to sew robes then you could definitely make your own tablecloths and napkins. I can’t sew at all. I tried to DIY a petal curtain but kept poking myself with the sewing needle.

We’re ordering a downloadable and editable save the date and invitation outline and printing them ourselves, I’m diy-ing wands for everyone and scarves for the wedding party, I’m making the signage, and I’m decorating the ring box that will be brought up during the ceremony, I’m also making the house banners and the centerpieces, and the card and advice boxes. Pretty much all of the decorations will be diy actually xD there aren’t a lot of Harry Potter wedding decoration items that aren’t a million dollars on Etsy.

We created an email save the date, I'm doing the bouquets and boutoniers, I'm making the ceremony back drop from hanging bulb terrariums and fairy lights. My fiancé is 3d printing the cake topper, Mr and Mrs sign, and the table numbers. For favors I bought small glass bottles with a cork lid (60 for $17 on Amazon) and will be filling them with chocolate sixlets and putting a sticker on it we can print at home. We are printing the guest names for their seating arrangement.

I DIY-ed our Save the Dates and Invitations. We're DIYing all signage, centerpieces (except for the flowers, the caterer who is also our florist will supply those). We're also DIYing (to an extent) our favors. We'll be having mini Fireball bottles for the adults, my mom printed and cut out tags using her Cricut that says "Take a shot, we tied the knot". Those who do not drink and those who are kids, I bought boxes from Etsy that look like suitcases that will be filled with Hot Tamales (my FAVORITE candy!).

My centerpieces, my card box, and possibly the necklace I wear. I have a vintage charm my mom wore on a chain when she married my dad in 1966. The chain broke years ago and I can't find one I love. My bridesmaid is seeing if she has something I can add it to, so I will have my something borrowed covered too

We’re designing/printing our own invitations as well as signage/seating charts, I’m doing most flowers with some friends/family aside from a ceremony piece and my own bouquet, we made our guest book, and we’re planning on making our own favors!

We’re also saving a lot of money on food being because we found a FANTASTIC caterer that sells trays for less than $200 that feed about 50 each, and our venue can provide us servers for about $200 the whole night, so our meal will be buffet style but people will be serving it.
