Whatever you do, I recommend leaving the flash intros out of it and leaving music off of it. They're both modern day web design faux pas which seem fun to the designer, but really end up as only a hassle to the viewer. Think of them as the powder blue tuxedos with huge ruffles in the shirt of today -- sure, they were the edge of design in the 70's, but antiquated today.

The best thing to do these days is keep it clean, neat, and free of clutter.

Totally disagree with Eddie A.

I loved our flash intro and people can choose the skip button if they don't wanna watch the 2 seconds it plays.

We also had music of some of our musicians play on the pages that took a long time to read, FAQ's etc. Though I wouldn't recommend music on pages that people are only on for 20 seconds it gets annoying when you keep getting the beginning of a song or different songs every page.

I agree with Soon2BMrsSmith about a new song per page - which is what we did but hindsight says we shouldn't have. I never did get around to changing it but I don't really see a point in it now lol.

I agree with Eddie about it being clutter-free.. I wasn't a big fan of the super long list going down the left side which is why I combined a lot of the tools that WW provides and made it the "information vault" (Guest Section) where the guest can use the helpful apps WW has.

That's all I'm saying. Much to be learned from that little comic, and there's a lot of data out there to back it up. Also remember that websites aren't for the creator, they're for the viewer.

Personally, soon as a site starts playing sound without my prompting, I just close it. I know most of my family and many of my friends are the same way. Also, flash intros often aren't mobile-device friendly.

I like to err on the side of caution, but others should feel free to let their creative side run as wild as they'd like. Just giving a bit of info from my little world. Going to throw in these two links, as well.

I couldn't agree more with Eddie. I don't mind the flash intro so much as long as there's a way to skip it, but there is nothing--NOTHING--more annoying to me than having any kind of sound or music come up on a website. It's so intrusive. I've even made decisions to not use a business based on sound on its website.
