Wedding Veils and Hair - What did you decide?

I’m wearing my mom’s cathedral veil, and as it has a pretty wide/large lace headpiece (sits on the crown of my head) I’m leaning towards wearing my hair completely down (so it doesn’t catch on a hair clip, and is easy to take off). I do have an alterations appointment later this month, so, if the seamstress has some ideas on how to make some changes, I may be able to wear it more like a headband. If my mom approves the changes, then I’ll set up another hair trial.

I wore my hair completely down with my cathedral length veil. It felt secure while on but was also easy to take out for the reception without messing my hair up

Mine was sort of "rolled from the bottom" (for lack of a better description) and then the veil comb was tucked in above the braids. It made it easy to take the veil out after pictures, since I wore my mom's cathedral-length veil

My mom's veil was on a headpiece and the headpiece was in bad shape (bent, discolored, and she has a bigger skull than I do) and I was able to put her cathedral veil on a hair comb - it worked out wonderfully.

I can't decide if I want a veil or not. My hair will be up though.

I don't want to cover my hair, so I'm doing pearl wings instead of a veil. We're getting married on the beach, so I will probably wear my hair mostly down in beachy waves.

Very pretty! No veil for me. I don’t particularly like what it stands for and it’s just not my style. I have a hair piece instead this is the model photo for what I ordered off Etsy to wear

I plan to wear mine down and wavy like Mattie. It seems like the most low maintenance way to get the veil off after the ceremony, without having to worry about disturbing an up do.

Originally I was not going to do avail for whatever reason I thought I was too old to wear one and I just didn’t see it. But as I shared in a previous post when I went for my fitting last week they suggested a bill and now I can’t and see it I just absolutely love it. My hair will be similar except for I’m putting 24 inch extensions in and wearing it straight with a custom-made 2 row baguette headband. The veil really made me feel like a bride.

I'm glad it all worked out and you could wear your mother's veil.

Mine is attached with a metal hair comb that slides just underneath the hairband I am wearing. I am hoping I will be able to slide it out without much issue if I choose to remove my veil. (Fingers crossed it works!)

My alterations lady is making it, and I don't get to see it until this thursday, when we will be only 16 days out, so I'm quite nervous in case it's not what I wanted!

I had my hair up in a bun with some braids and hairpins for interest when I took my veil off.


And I took it off so fast after the ceremony/pictures because, as it was outdoors, the dang thing acted as a mosquito net trapping mosquitos against my back most of the afternoon. 🤦‍♀️
Wasn't expecting Wisconsin to be 82 degrees with mosquitoes on October 1st.
