Wedding under $1500...

Lillian , on June 15, 2018 at 9:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 74
Guys, I kid you not two days ago we decided to get married this October after thinking we would get married next October and start the wedding planning this coming August. Well about 3.5 months away, little money saved, let’s see if I can do this under $1,500.

I hope you can do it! It's great seeing people have the wedding they want with an small budget. Mines going to end up being 6-7 thousand, with the honeymoon.

What type of stuff are you doing to keep that budget

So I ordered my dress from a website called jjshouse.com it should be here in three weeks so we will see the quality. That plus my veil only cost like 240. We are doing the wedding in a backyard so no venue cost. Plugging our phones into an speaker and playing a custom made wedding list. We are doing e invites to avoid the cost of paper invites. My bouquets will be fake flours and made at home. And for party favors I intend to do little goody bag with printed stickers that have our info on it and doing a candy bar where guests can fill the bags with candy to take home. Also no dinner, just heavy appetizers and sweetSmiley smile

60 people and no alcohol. 80% of the people are not drinkers.

Do you have a photographer? Is your officiant and license in there?

heavy appetizers are not necessarily cheaper than catering because you’ll need a lot more of them

I think your under the impression I’m attempting to have a traditional wedding within this budget. Me and my fiancé are very easy going and we want this to be more like a party. We don’t like to stress about things and enjoy just being surrounded by loved ones. While I think it is quite possible and even likely to go above the budget, I still feel confident we will fall under $2,200. It’s not always WHAT you know but who you know.

Did I read that right—a $240 veil? That’s totally not budget! But good luck with everything!

If you're doing a casual party, I think it's very possible to keep it where you want it, especially without a venue cost. Especially if you don't get caught up in the "trappings" of a wedding. Have you had a party with this many people at this house before? I ask because my mind always goes first to the bathroom situation and second to whether the inside can accommodate if the weather is bad. You might want to price out getting appetizers from somewhere (restaurant or supermarket). It could turn out to be a negligible difference in cost vs making them all yourself. Good luck!

You're getting married the day before me!

Good luck on your budget! Try grocery stores for cupcakes and a small 8" cake for cutting. You can then arrange them nicely.

Also for the apps. It could actually be cheaper with food not to DYI a lot of the time.

This isn’t an accurate “budget” breakdown. Lots of friendors and self-catering with no alcohol.

Right. And no mention of rentals like bathrooms, tables, and chairs, etc. Or a tent, as a rain backup plan. Or even waiters. Is the whole party stationary appetizers?
