Wedding Postponed due to Covid-19?

Futuremrsn, on March 17, 2020 at 11:40 AM Posted in Planning 4 129
Hi ladies! I’m so upset that the wedding we planned for May 9 this year has to be postponed because of this worldwide spread virus. Anyone else forced to postpone their original date? My concern is the money I spent on my invites and save the dates, now I have to do it all over again! What are your biggest concerns?

Ask the business who did your prints if they would offer you a discount, Basic white is going to give me 75 % off.

It sucks, my wedding was April 4th Smiley sad and now it probably wont be until July 18th.

I printed mine with Staples so I guess I’d have to talk with them. And I spent over $100 on stamps! I know the USPS won’t have any sympathy!

    I hear ya!

April 10th wedding here and our venue decided to force the postponement. We are looking at July dates (on a Friday).

My fiance and I plan to do a facebook event or Evite and just call our older/non techy friends & relatives. Not spending $$ and paper on a reprint! Everyone will understand!

I'm more worried that my ballgown dress isn't exactly a summer wedding dress. Early April is way different than July! I also already bought my bridesmaids shawls off Etsy. Figure I'll gift it to them anyway.

We are not alone! Alot of people are in the same boat! Andd yea....if the 2nd date is canceled, elopement it is!

I feel you on the invites. We used minted...I am going to reach out to them to see if they will honor a discount. I have been most stressed out about guests reaching out asking about the wedding tbh...

Yes I’ve had to reach out to everyone in the last two days to let them know we might have to postpone, and to most likely expect a new save the date and invitation in the future

Yeah, we are mailing out a letter next week that explains our decision. I am just getting these kinds of messages. They honestly make me feel so much worse.Wedding Postponed due to Covid-19? 1

Oh my god! I’m so sorry you have to deal with that! But girl don’t worry you are not alone in this. I’ve had to explain it a hundred times already through social media and text and it’s crazy

My fiance and I haven't been forced to postpone, and I'm hoping that won't necessarily be the case. We have May 6th of this year as our date, and I am praying that we can keep it. Everything except the food for the reception has been paid for already. I don't want to have to pay for any rescheduling or new stationary Smiley sad...

Oh what city are you getting married in? Our venue said we can keep our date of May 9 only if we can have a guest list of 50 or less, or if the ban lifts. We paid for most things and just have the final invoices due soon, but we aren’t sure what we are going to do yet...

Hi! Ahh I am so sorry! My wedding was supposed to be on April 17th and it was postponed to June. We made a facebook page and invited all our guest. We are now doing a online RSVP.

I know exactly how you feel. I had planned my perfect wedding on March 28th for over a year and a half. Now, we have to postpone until September (which has its own concerns since, I live in Florida and that is hurricane season). We will probably be sending out invitations all over again. I'm most concerned if I should wear the dress I have picked out for the small family ceremony we're doing at my mom's house as well as the larger postponed wedding in September.

Im May 2nd and just got an email today from my Venue that all events/gatherings are banned till May 10th. I am now thinking of postponing to August 2nd. Idk if i should do a "change the date" postcard or an evite. If I do, WHEN is it appropriate to send it? Just such a confusing time.

Ugh I’m sorry girl - I was thinking about the same thing, should we still have a small, private ceremony on our original date? And then the party later on? I didn’t want to do that, but it’s looking like we might just be waiting until October for everything. We were offered summer dates but myself and fiancé dislike the heat and my dress is not for summer lol

I spoke to my mother about it and she said to at least wait until after your original date to send out new invites. I’m going to wait til May to send out new save the dates, then since our new date is in October I’ll send new invites in August

I reached out to Minted a few days ago, and they said that they would reprint wedding invitations with the new wedding date free of charge.

We were scheduled for May 24 and decided to send out invites Monday in case the post office shut down. We just sent an email basically saying we're on until we aren't and to please look at our wedding website for further details. We made a plan there, asked people to write their email on a response card if they choose to send one and will email and also post about our new date which is looking to be October 18. We just didn't feel it was worth it to reprint. Paperless post will have to do! It's really disappointing to put life on hold, but trying to stay positive that this is the way to ensure we can have a wonderful celebration (and everyone will need one by then) with all the people we love present. We're in New York where it's being hit hard and his family has to fly in from LA so the prospect is just dwindling. We'll make the final call in 2 weeks. I've only spoken to the location/caterer and photographer but those are my biggest concerns. The band has multiple groups. I think anyone who isn't understanding at this time wouldn't be worth having at my wedding. We're just going to make it a spring wedding in the fall. I'm not changing a thing. I also was not stressed out about this whole thing until now. I never had this 'ideal wedding' in my head and at the end of the day, just want to marry the man I love (Who has been super supportive during this and I hope all of you have the same kind of support), have a fun night of dancing, and look good in my dress (whatever season it was designed for). We're all together on this ladies! Do this the way that makes you and your FH happy!
