I'm excited to start planning but my fiance and I can't seem to pick a date. How did you guys pick your dates?

Congrats on getting engaged! So my fiancé and I wanted to keep our wedding date in the same month of our anniversary (February). However, my fiancé really liked the idea of leap year because it’s unique. So we’re getting married next month on the 29th lol.

Personally our date has no significance to anything. We didnt want it too hot, cold, or too close to any holidays. We wanted just enough time to plan and have the wedding we wanted. Even now it seems like the date is way too far away..some days I just wanna elope..

I have always wanted a fall wedding, which FH agreed upon. From there, I figured the beginning of October would have better weather than the end of October, so we chose 10/3/20!

We decided to go with our Dating anniversary. I told him that I liked our date how it was and I'd be nice so he didn't have to remember 2 dates lol.

We're starting the planning process now, we're aiming for Spring 2021. We did a process of elimination:
-January and February usually bring full snow storms, so those months were out.
-November and December are already expensive because of the holidays.-June, July, and August are usually in the 90s and can get into the 100s.-April/October through October/November are peak season, which can double the price tag.
.....So we're looking at March or April. But we'll see if there is availability.

He proposed on our dating anniversary. This year our anniversary falls on a Friday and we couldn’t resist. So dating, proposal and wedding anniversary will all be the same date!

We went through a few dates haha. We settled on June 12th 2021 because we decided to push it back (from August 2020) due to financial reasons. We decided to get married in Rocky Mountain National Park and June is the first month where the weather is nice enough for an outdoor event. I originally wanted June 19th, but we decided to do a vacation rental and June 19th starts pak season and it would cost $5,000 more to rent the house than it would on the 12th haha.

We wanted something that was already a celebrated day, so we could roll it into one neat date- like valentines, and then people could take their dates to our wedding. At one point, we thought aboit making it one of our birthdays.
We eventually decided to make the wedding date the same as our anniversary, which im seeing a lot of people doing.

We wanted the same month we got engaged in and also a month that won’t be TOO terrible weather wise in upstate NY. My FH and I both work in grocery and October is a slower month anyways so it worked out great

We decided on the length of engagement which determines the year and then the Season which narrowed down the months. We wanted it when there was no school (so we didn’t have to coordinate pick up and drop off schedules) which meant the summer and my sons birthday is in May and July is too damn hot so June it was. The actual day was at random. At first it was a brunch wedding then the logistics didn’t work for our venue or theme so it became a dinner Smiley smile

    First off, congratulations!

I would say first think about any dates that have meaning to the two of you or maybe start with a season you two like. Look at wedding pictures in those seasons and decide the pros and cons. Then start to narrow down to different months within those seasons & check availability for the venue you want or are looking into. Also take in consideration important dates/days for your family and bridal party. Will there be children involved? How far will guests have to travel or take off work/school? For example my cousin is also getting the same year as me so I had to take that into consideration. We originally wanted a fall wedding because I met him in the fall and he proposed in the fall. We would’ve loved to have gotten married on the day he proposed but that was also his mother’s birthday and week before a holiday so we deicided not to do that. I also couldn’t pick the same month as her. One day we originally chose ended up being on her bridal shower date so we ended just going with July 19 , 2020 which works out because that was the only date in July available for our venue which also has meaning to us! So I’d say think of important dates to you all but also be considerate of your guests!

We picked a date with meaning to us. We started dating 4/19/17 and wanted to keep it around then. 4/19 is either a Friday or Sunday in the next few years and we needed a Saturday date because we have traveling family. We ended up going with 4/17/21 because it’s a Saturday but the day also correlates to the year we started dating Smiley smile

I’m a teacher so I wanted a date in the beginning of summer vacation that also gave me time to do some last minute preparations. Then, I looked at days that are cheaper for banquet halls (Fridays and Sundays) and voila! Our wedding date was chosen- June 19th.

We started dating 11/27/06 and got engaged 11/27/17. He wanted a summer wedding and 7/27/19 happened to fall on a Saturday and not my weekend to work (I’m a nurse). I also really liked the 27 theme 🥰
