How many people think we must have a wedding planner? Is it helpful or a waster of money ?

I have planned my entire wedding by myself, no planner or help from anyone, and to be honest it's been pretty easy. There are so many checklists you can utilize and WW has all the information you need, too. IMO, it'd be a waste of money.

I think it really depends on how involved you want to be in planning. Like Danielle said, wedding planning truly isn't that difficult with all the resources available online, it's just time consuming. Planners are super useful if you don't have the time or the desire to make tons of decisions and nitpick tiny details like napkin folds and program layouts.

We aren't using a planner, but we did hire a day of coordinator to handle setup, tear down, and make sure that everything runs smoothly. She's well worth the investment.

We didn't have a wedding planner, but our venue did provide an event manager who acted as our day of coordinator. I'd at least get a DOC to do all of the setup and tear down for you so that you won't have to worry about cleaning up on your wedding day.

I would consider a few factors - how close do you live to your venue, is your venue all inclusive and/or does it include a venue coordinator, how much time do you have to devote to wedding planning and speaking to vendors, and how particular are you about your vision? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they were a waste of money, but a lot of people do successfully plan without one.

I've personally never known anyone who has hired a planner, myself included. Our venue has an event manager who will be our DOC day of. She's the closest thing lol. She has been super helpful across the process, along with the checklist on The Knot and these forums. There are so many resources available online that, if you can't spare the expense, it isn't a huge deal.

If you like planning, are relatively organized than I say just hire the Day Of Coordinator.

I feel it depends on the type of even you will be having. I have a small event and its been easy for me to plan all by myself but if its a big even then a wedding planner might be helpful

If you don’t have a large budget a wedding planner is not going to be worth it because they are very expensive. I had one and it was completely worth it to me. But I wasn’t a bride who wanted to contact vendors myself or pick out centerpieces and place settings. I would recommend a day of coordinator though.
