Hi! I have a question about wedding planning etiquette.
Background: I got married over the summer and planned my entire wedding. My sister in law just got engaged and is getting married in September and asked me to be her wedding planner. She's VERY young and has no idea how to do anything when it comes to wedding planning, so I know I will be doing most of it, which I'm happy to do for her! I fully support her wedding and I believe she's ready to be married, she just doesn't have the knack for planning one and it's very overwhelming for her. I'm hoping to do wedding planning on the side, so this may be a great way for me to get my foot in the door too.
Question: One thing I know I'll have to do for her a lot is call venues, vendors (florists, rentals etc) and other people who will be assisting in the wedding. I need to call a potential venue tomorrow and I'm at a loss of how to address myself? When I call them, is it normal to address myself as the "wedding planner of ____'s wedding?" What is the proper way to explain why I'm calling. I feel like if I say "I'm calling on behalf of my sister-in-law" they'd be like "why isn't she calling herself?" lol I know I'm really overthinking this.
Thanks so much in advanced!
