Wedding Planner? (Book)

Megggle, on October 13, 2015 at 7:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

Hey ladies! I was curious of any of you use/used a wedding planner and for those that did, which one did you use and did you like it/find it helpful? I'm probably going to look around for one soon because I prefer having all of my planning stuff in a physical binder rather than all computerized.

If you made your own binder, what "sections" or tabs do you recommend having?

Also, NWR but I noticed some people on the forums here say they are "following" a post. Does that just mean they will keep coming back to check for updates it or is there a way to get notifications or emails when something new has been posted? I'm finding it difficult to go back to posts I've commented on to see if someone replied to me or not. Hopefully I'm just missing something!

I use Erin condren! I love all of her stuff. But then I also use a binder with page protectors for magazine inspiration. I use Erin condren as an appointment reminder and then in the notes at the end of every month I write about what all we did/decided on/changed during that month.

I encoded up going with the Knot wedding planner. It's in a binder format so it's super easy to add pages too. Plus I don't know where I would be without those detailed checklists. It is already tabbed but I love it!

Also, anything you comment on will show up in the Watchlist section of your Planning Tools. If you hover over it, you'll see 'Watchlist' in the drop down. From there, you can see all the threads you started, then all the threads you commented on, then you watchlist. You can add any thread to your watchlist to go back to it later. The watchlist button is immediately under the writing on the post to the left of where it says 'flag as inappropriate.' I'm still waiting for the day WW gets notifications and tagging!

@Amber Erin Awesome thanks! I'll look into that one as well.

@Nicole awesome thanks for letting me know! I kept looking on my Dashboard and profile trying to figure out how to get to the watchlist haha. That makes things so much easier now.

I also prefer a physical binder rather than keeping electronic records. Im probably going to get crap for this but I bought a binder from the knot right after getting engaged and I absolutely love it. And it's not as expensive as an Erin Condren planner!

@FutureMrs.C That's good to know! I don't think you'll get much crap for it. So far you're the third person to recommend it so it must be good lol.

I have "The Bride's Essential Wedding Planner: Deluxe Edition". It has everything you can think of in it. It has "information about the entire planning process: checklists for every step, interview questions for potential service providers, worksheets to record vendor services and costs, DIY and money-saving hints, at-a-glance advice, a 16-month fill-in calendar, sleeves to hold business cards, guest list and seating chart organizers, pockets on all tab dividers," I also have "The Bride's Mini 411" which is small enough to fit into a purse. It has checklists, calendars, and room for all your wedding contacts.

I also have the knot binder. Found it from Barnes and Nobles when we first got engaged. I got page protectors and have used those to add contracts and receipts into the binder (kind of like a folder). I have friends who are teachers who love Erin Condren.

My MOH printed me one off of etsy and made a binder with it for me. The binder has pictures of my FH and I on the outside of it. I love it! I think it was called things to do before you're married or something like that but I'll check when I get home Smiley smile

I bought a planner and honestly haven't really looked at it since I got it. I just felt that most of the stuff in there didn't really pertain to me, but I could see how it would be helpful if you have a lot of vendors to compare, things like that.

@Kaylie yeah I was worried about that happening to me too. That's kind of why I'm hesitant to buy something online. I want to look at some options in person to see everything it includes and get a better idea of what I may or may not use.

@thejadecoast awesome Smiley smile Thanks for the suggestion!
