WEDDING PLANNER AN UNORGANIZED MESS!!

Melissa , on April 30, 2012 at 8:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Ok guys.. I am getting married in April '13 in San Juan Puerto Rico.. I did major research to find a reputable wedding planner and thought I had.. What a mistake!! I sent her a 50% deposit and she has been NO help. I asked her for photographer recommendations and all she did was send me an email with 5 attachments with the photographers website info. What am I supposed to do with that?? What I want is her recommendation based on actual experience with these professionals. NOT links to their website, I can do that myself. I've already sent her 50% now what am I supposed to do?? She's making me more unorganized and not really helpful at all.. I'm so upset and FH is so over it already.. HELP! What are my options? If I fire her I know I wont be able to get my deposit back..

Read over your contract and see what it says about refunds.

That sucks! What's in the contract for the services that are provided? Did you specify your needs and expectations? I would send an email in response asking "So who do you recommend based on your professional experience?" Since you already sent 50%, you may have to try to work with her in order not to lose your deposit. Sorry you're dealing with this.

E-mail her and tell her that you are looking for her recommendations and that you would like her to be more helpful with the decision making process..after all thats what you're paying her for, nothing wrong with telling her that.

Did you ever think that maybe the links she sent you are her recommendations for photographers...she may have worked with all of them and knows their work but wants you to see their web site so you have some what of idea of how they shoot weddings

I'm very curious to know who she is. I am also getting married in San Juan and have a planner who is not very helpful. It usually takes her a couple of WEEKS to respond to my emails. She had great reviews on WW but I am not impressed so far. I have already booked all of my vendors, and most of them work with her a lot, so I'm worried if I cancel her it would cause a problem with everyone else.

By the way, I would guess that these are the five photographers she works with on a regular basis. These are most likely her recommendations, and she wants you to look at their work and budget to determine who is best for you.

Hey Jessica and Kay, you guys can't pose as brides when you're really vendors advertising your services!!

Now to the real issue. Those are probably her recommendations and she wants you to narrow it down by your preference in style and budget. If you're not sure, can you give her a call? Maybe this way you guys can talk about expectations and get in the same page, best of luck!
