Wedding on easter sunday O_O

JenJen, on March 7, 2012 at 8:11 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

April 8th is a day that means a lot to Gary & I so we decided to get married on that day. the only problem is that this year April 8th is Easter sunday. we are just doing a small ceremony, no guests, just the 2 of us Smiley smile we haven't really set anything in stone yet so i am wondering what would be less tacky, a wedding at midnight saturday april 7th running into april 8th OR doing an evening (after 7 pm) ceremony on april 8th.

we are in GA so any suggestions for places to have a ceremony at midnight would be appreciated Smiley smile

If there are no guest to consider I am unsure what your really asking? Are you still looking for a venue? You should check and see if someone is available to marry you on Easter Sunday or not, if so then you can do it pretty much anywhere if it's only the two of you. What do you want for your day?

If it's just the two of you, that's the one time you can pretty much balls-out do whatever the heck you want without worrying about what anybody else thinks. So choose whichever works best. I would personally prefer the evening ceremony on April 8th but that's just me.

I agree with Ginny, the officiant is going to be your first order of business. Lent and Easter are the busiest and most exhausting times of year for active clergy, so if you need a clergy person to officiate you might have a challenge finding someone who will do either of those options. Unless one of your friends/family members can get ordained to perform the ceremony.

Do you know the rules in GA re: officiating? Does it have to be an ordained clergy or officer of the court, or can you marry yourselves? I know it varies place to place - in CO you don't even need an officiant. Smiley smile

Seeing as how you're only a month out, you'll probably be limited with your venue options. Since you're not going to have any guests, I don't think that it'll matter if you get married on a holiday.

I agree with both Mrs. K and Kris S. but if you are not Catholic and wanting a priest to perform the ceremony then I believe you could have a ceremony at 7 on April 8th. Have you looked into Calloway Gardens? My FH were thinking of doing it there when we were thinking of having a DW. They told us we had to do it after the grounds closed at 6.

When we set our wedding day, we didnt realize until 2 or 3 months later that it was the day before Easter. lol

But more people are able to come to the wedding and ceremony because of it being a holiday weekend

Friends of mine got married on Easter Saturday almost 3 years ago and the hardest thing for them was finding someone to officiate their ceremony. If you are really set on it, I agree with others to get on finding someone first who can marry you. After that, look into gallery, small theatre spaces if you are wanting an interesting venue.
