Keone, on September 17, 2016 at 12:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34

Wedding approching fast, will it look tacky to hold my dress up a little in the front? Its too long an to even get it altered it will be extremely high its alot of decor on the bottom of the dress.

Tailors are professionals - If you can find one that has the flexibility to get your dress done FAST, they will find a way to keep the detailing.

Wouldn't it be a lot of work to hold your dress up all day?

I've done that with a dress before... I kept tripping over it. Lol.

    You didn't budget for alterations??

Any seamstress who regularly does bridal alterations should be able to hem it and keep the detail at the bottom. See a seamstress.

    Gorgeous dress.

Find a good seamstress. Like a really really good one. They're professionals and they will be able to give you a better answer than we can.

It won't look tacky, but it might be a matter of comfort or practicality for you. I agree with PP, take it to a seamstress and get an opinion.

Hard to do is not impossible. You realistically cannot hold your dress up all night.

Okay Im going today to see what can be done. There is a shorter version of this dress where the front is shorter but its not the same color gold an the material of the dress is way different.

No it will not be tacky at all and if you notice most brides hold their dress subconsciously anyway. As for the headpiece, get a forehead jewel piece. If you google forehead jewelry for bride, tons will pop up. I personally like the company EverFaith on Amazon. Best wishes to you!

6 inch heels?!?! AND your skirt is too long? That's a recipe for a huge disaster right there. Plus, how are you going to hold the skirt up during your first dance? Or coming back down the aisle, where you'll have the bouquet in one hand and his hand/arm has your other hand?

Just no. Take the dress to a couple of different local seamstresses and get their opinions. Many of them will have experience taking in/shortening dresses with intricate detail. It won't be cheap, but you should've thought of that when you bought the dress.

ETA - you will need to bustle the train, which would have to be added by a seamstress anyways.

Emily you don't have to be rude. I did think of it when I bought the dress.

Good luck in those heels too. Not sarcastic, actually wishing you luck. I'm only graceful when I run. Walking and chewing gum at the same time is hard. Mad respect if you can rock that heel height.
