Wedding approching fast, will it look tacky to hold my dress up a little in the front? Its too long an to even get it altered it will be extremely high its alot of decor on the bottom of the dress.

No the lady suggested the heels I actually am not buying heels that tall. I was saying with 6 inch heels on it was still too long. Im not walking in nothing that tall

Gorgeous dress! Yes, I agree, go to a few seamstress and see what they can do. I'm 5'5 and I'm wearing 5in heels and girl, I'm thinking about getting lower heels now. If you can pull off 6in heels, great but because they may not be able to cut so much on your beautiful dress, walking in 6in heels, may be a disaster. Also, what may work too, is when the seamstress bustles the train. Also, what hairstyle you have in mind? That dress will look amazing with a simple gold brooch! Good luck!

Sounds like the lady you bought it off of didn't want to order one that'd be more of a suitable length. Also that she's too lazy or legitimately doesnt want to do anything else for you. Take it somewhere else good to be hemmed and a bustle put on.

Because of all the detail at the bottom, it may need to be shortened from the waist and that is a lot more work.

If front bustles are not a thing, they should be!!! I'm short, too.

I'm 5ft 2in too so I know the struggle of having to hem any long dresses I buy. Definitely see what a seamstress can do for hopefully a reasonable price. Your dress is too gorgeous to have to hold up all day. Good luck!

I'm also 5 2" I ended up wearing 6" heels to give the dress the right effect.

Can you wear super tall platform heels?

The bottom of your dress is so pretty!

Forget comfort! For your safety you need to just bite the bullet and get it shortened. If there's THAT much fabric left over, wearing the dress as-is sounds like a sprained ankle (or worse) waiting to happen and FH having to carry you across the threshold of your hotel room because of an injury isn't very romantic.

I worked at as a seamstress/designer at a custom bridal boutique for a couple years and I worked on alterations there also. That dress (holy heck is it beautiful BTW) definitely would be a little tricky to hem but it might not be as bad as you think. Usually that kind of embroidery is a patch (the beading/embroidery is sewn onto a patch of tulle or some kind of netting) which is then sewn at the edges to the actual dress of the fabric. So to hem the front only, the seamstress would just have to undo the stitching and redo the placement a bit higher. Still more than a regular hem but it might be in your range. See what kind of quotes you can get! I'd hate for you to step on that pretty hem the day of.

Side note - I'd definitely do a short veil or birdcage or something that doesn't cover up the back because that detail is amazing!

They may be able to lift it from the waist. Take it to a seamstress, you don't want to trip over it all night.

    I'm 5'2" - there's no way I couldn't have hemmed my dress.
