Wedding Dress - Buy or Rent?

I would totally rent if I had that option! That's WAY cheap and you won't have to worry about what you're going to do with it after the wedding!

Really, you arent going to spend that much more if you straight out buy it. I got my Sotterro for less than 1000 with unlimited alerations.

I would check around, and rent if you cant find anything you like on clearance or sale.

I LOVE the dress I'm getting, but do hate the idea of spending so much on it and I'd never wear it again. As sentimental as it is, that's what my photo's are for, memories. Most likely it will just be sitting in my closet for the next 100 years, collecting dust. I would totally rent if I could find a place to!

Rent it! (Unless you fall in love with a dress that costs as much or less than the rental.) I love my dress, but given the option to rent one, I likely would have gone with something entirely different. My low budget dictated the dresses I had to choose from.

Or try a bridal consignment store if there are any in your area. You can get a great price and then bring it back to resell it if you want.

Part of me want to have it for sentimental reason and force it on my grandkids when they get marry jk

If I were wearing a traditional wedding gown, I would definitely want to rent! There's a BIG difference between $300 and "under $1000" for a dress you'll only wear once. And while there is a sense of wanting something that could become a family tradition... well, I certainly don't want to wear MY mother's wedding dress, and I figure most women will want to get their own in the future, too.

Rent a designer one if you can. I totally would have if I could have fit into size 10-12 or smaller! ;p

Rent-The money you save will come in handy in other areas of your wedding. You can't rent favors, flowers or many other items so this is the smart thing to do!

I definitely would rent if I could. My budget dictated my dress and I still paid more than you will to rent. Your kids won't want to wear your dress and unles syou're having a vow renewal in the next few yrs and wanna put it back on just to be able to say you're the same size, you won't wear it either. lol

I didnt know you could rent! that must be a secret here in nj! i totally would have rented if i could! i love my dress, dont get me wrong, but i didnt get that, "its the one" thing happening. and honestly, if i kept looking, i probably would have found that in a dress way to expensive for my budget... so yeah i def would have rented if i could wear the dress of my dreams!!! i dont know what to do with it after anyway!!!

I would have absolutely rented if the option was available. There is a HUGE difference between $150-300 to rent vs purchasing a DESIGNER gown and seriously, what do you need with it afterwards? Absosmurflylutely nothing.

Ok rent it is then. If you live in Southern CA you'll find lots of places like this. I found out that they will let me take the dress out for picture and dry clean it afterward so it will be ready for my wedding day. Wooohooo

For some weird reason, in my area tuxes can be rented but not gowns.

So, the consignment shops do a good business of selling and buying back.

I will try the rental first. If you fall in love with one of them. Rent it!

I rented my wedding dress this past month from an online designer wedding gown rental called Get The Gown (www.getthegown.com). They have couture designers like Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, etc. The experience was awesome! They ship the dress to you and deal with the dry-cleaning afterwards. I got into some super expensive ($10,000+) wedding gown for peanuts.
